Task 1
Let’s start reading one written dialogue. Read and answer the questions that follow.

Task 2
Offering help in English can be done in affirmative ways by using statements
and persuasive by using interrogatives. Could you find those affirmative and
interrogative expressions? I have put one example for you. Write as many as
possible and then discuss with your friends.
Task 3
Now, read the following expressions and categorize them into accepting,
offering, asking for, and declining help or services by writing the number.
Would you like some help? Would you be willing to help me? Do you need any help?
Could you give me a hand? Let me do something for you. May I offer my assistance?

Task 1
Match the expressions of asking and offering help to the responses in the
right by drawing the lines.
Woman Hi, I just moved in next door and have a few mope/move
questions.
Woman You all seem like a very pleasant group of tenants. tenancy/tenants
Man We all try and help each other out when we can. try/tree
Man I have lived here for quite a while. Ten years! Life/lived

Now, create and practice the conversation. Change the highlighted phrases with
your own ideas and find a partner to act the dialogue out. Don’t forget to record
your conversation and save that in mp3.

how well you understood the discussion.
How is the result? If you fail to answer all numbers you have to repeat the
discussion. If you put check lists in all parts, congratulation. You have gone
