VERB TO HAVE

 It`s used to identify possession. There`s something that belongs to somebody.

In interrogative and negative sentences we need help. We need the help verbs (auxiliary verbs).

When we use the auxiliary DOES the verb comes to its original form HAVE.

Example:

Affirmative – She has a car.

Interrogative – Does she have a car?

Negative – She does not have a car.

SIMPLE PRESENT
● We use Simple Present to identify routine, repeated actions.

Eg: I work every day.

FORMATION:

Affirmative Rules:

● General Rule – Add “s” to the verb on the third person of singular (He – She – It).

Eg: I work – He works

You read – She reads

They drink – It drinks

● Verbs ending “s”, “sh”, “ch”, “x”, “o”, “z”:


Add “es” to the verb on the third person of singular (He – She – It).

Eg: I pass – She passes

You wash – He washes

They go – It goes

● Verbs ending in “y” preceded by a consonant.


Drop off “y” and add “ies” on the third person of singular (He – She – It).

Eg: We study - He studies

I cry – She cries

● Verbs ending in “y” preceded by a vowel.


Just add “s”.

Eg: We play - It plays

They enjoy – He enjoys

Note: In negative and interrogative sentences we need the auxiliaries DO or DOES and the verb
comes to its primitive form.

Affirmative – I like fish.
Negative – I do not like fish. He – She – It => Does
Interrogative – Do I like fish?

Affirmative – He likes fish. Do not = Don`t


Negative – He does not like fish.
Interrogative – Does he like fish? Does not = Doesn`t

every weekend = todo fim de semana
● We use never, sometimes, always etc,
every morning = toda manhã
in the middle of the sentence.
every afternoon = toda tarde Eg: I never eat hamburgers.
