Please note that this assignment has been designed keeping in mind that the students are learning
digitally and not in a classroom setting. Also note that all the blue text are the instructions to the
graphic designer.
Students will be given small tasks in the form of questions or instructions that will lead them to a
concept and its understanding. If students successfully complete a task, only then the next task will
appear on the screen.
Please read the entire document including the comments and instructions to the designer so that
you get a clear picture of what I want to present to the students and how questions will pop up on
the screen.
Screen 1
Show a comic strip having two siblings (brother & sister) talking to each other on a breakfast table.
Show that both of them have a sandwich cut into 4 pieces. Brother ate 1 part and sister ate 3 parts
out of the 4 parts they have.
Boy (looking at his sister’s plate): You eat so fast. I just ate 1/4 th of my sandwich and you are already
down with 3/4th of it.
Sister (smiling with ketchup on face): Why are you bringing like fractions to the table?

Very Nice! The similarity is that both the fractions have ________________________________.
Look at the
ok
denominators!
Bingo!
Did you cut both the cakes into same number of parts? Yes No
When whole objects (same or different) are divided into same number of equal parts, then they
form like fractions.
Therefore, like fractions are those fractions that have same denominators.
