Sure, I’d be glad to. I’m Jieraelld Matias, 21 years of age and I recently graduated from
Nueva Ejica University of Science and Technology with a course Bachelor’s of Science in
Environmental Science and with the same university I earned my Master’s Degree in Soil, Water
and Environmental Science. While there, I learned a lot in subjects like General Chemistry,
General Biology, Biochemistry, Environmental studies, Environmental Management and more. I
was also part of the environmental society, and got a 3.0 GPA.
I’ve worked hard in my education and now I’m ready to apply my knowledge and skills
into practice.
While I don’t have any real-life work experience, I’ve had a lot of exposure to my chosen
profession because my ankle is also an environmental specialist and he have a master’s degree
too.
Now, I’m looking to leverage everything I’ve learned in university, on my ankle and get
some hands-on work experience. Thank you.
Can you tell me about a difficult work situation and how you overcame it?
There’s a time that I dealt with an angry customer. When I worked as a service crew, a
customer came to our store and complained their drink was incorrect and the drive-thru
worker gave them the incorrect breakfast sandwich. I apologized for the error, and I let them
know we would be happy to remake their order for them free of charge. However, the
customer still felt frustrated because they said waiting for a new order would make them late
for work and it was not the first time someone made their order incorrectly.
To help ensure the customer received the order as soon as possible, I instructed our
prep team to prioritize making the new drink and sandwich. I asked the customer about their
previous experiences, and I shared tips on how to order their items in a way that may
help prevent mistakes or incorrect items. When I gave the customer their new order, I
included our store manager’s and our district manager’s business cards and a few coupons for
free drinks. The customer thanked me for my help, felt much happier and even gave us a
generous cash tip.
