Highlight
ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia and PT. Arthapusaka Mitra Sakti has completed plant study oil drain interval
final drive CAT 740D. This investigation and reporting is a part of our Planned Engineering Services (PES)
program. PT. Berkah Anugerah Rizki Abadi cool wants to reduce oil drain interval on final drive. With the
appropriate oil replacement at final drive and the appropriate oil drain interval is expected to reduce the oil
consumption rate beyond the maintenance schedule so as to increase production.

ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia's recommendation to use Mobiltrans HD 50W will provide a potential cumulative
annual savings of:

Recommendation
Based on the study of ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia and PT. Arthapusaka Mitra Sakti recommends the
following:
Mobiltrans HD 50 as a replacement for final drive oil, heavy duty transmission and drive-train lubricants
engineered to meet or exceed the requirements of the rigorous Caterpillar TO-4 specification. This product
line is uniquely designed to optimise the performance of final drive. This technology combines selected base
oils and an advanced additive system to deliver the precise performance parameters needed to maximise the
productivity of construction, quarrying, and mining equipment operating in severe conditions. These products
offer a clear performance advantage over the use of mixed fleet engine oils and previously used lubricants
meeting Caterpillar TO-2.

There are several advantages to using the Mobiltrans HD 50 :

1 Extend ODI / Service maintenance intervals with long equipment life.

2 Reduces wear levels on final drive components.
3 Technical support from Exxon Mobil Lubricant Indonesia.

Discussion

PT. Berkah Anugrah Rizki Abadi Cool has 17 units of Cat 740 D, this equipment is of course very much needed
in the mining sector. The need for an articulated dump truck unit is very important in the process of moving
material from difficult terrain. This articulated dump truck is very much needed and if there are obstacles it
will hinder the production process, so that it requires very good maintenance, including by choosing the right
lubricant for the final drive.

Based on the performance of the Mobiltrans HD 50W, and to achieve it:

Recommendation
Based on the findings of the investigation by ExxonMobil Lubricants Indonesia and PT. Arthapusaka Mitra
Sakti recommends the following:

Using Mobiltrans HD 50W as a lubricant for the final drives used by PT Diva Cahaya Sejahtera. Mobiltrans HD
50 has a longer lifetime than competitors, and is able to protect bearings and gear from wear.

There are several advantages that will be obtained by using Mobiltrans HD 50W, including:

1 Extend ODI / Service maintenance intervals

2 Protects bearings and gears from wear, resulting in longer component life.
3 Very strong technical support from Exxon Mobil Lubricant Indonesia.

Here is supporting evidence to strengthen our recommendations:

1. Extending Oil Drain Interval / Service Maintenance

After using Mobiltrans HD 50, the conditions of used oil analysis (UOA) prove that our product is capable of
providing extraordinary performance. Factors that can lead to a shorter lubricant life are:

1.1. Contamination, which is the cause of oil damage due to influences from outside the system, for
example, is the entry of dirt, water into the lubricant, and mixing oil with oil of different viscosity.
1.2. Choosing a lubricant that is not in accordance with equipment specifications is one of the causes of
damage to components. the choice of lubricant should be based on the builder's recommendation.

TO-4 Fluids are specifically formulated SAE 10, SAE 30 and 50 oils designed to meet Caterpillar’s latest
Transmission and Drive Train Lubricant specification. TO-4 supersedes and replaces Caterpillar TO-2
requirements. TO-4 provides improved clutch life when compared to the previous TO-2 Fluid along with
improved control of gear wear in SAE 30 for transmissions, gear boxes, and SAE 50 for final drive trains.
TO-4 has outstanding hydraulic oil stability and allows protection against high-pressure pump wear.:

2.1 Improved Clutch Life

Up to 45% over TO-2 fluids. Balanced static/dynamic friction provides clutch durability and maximum
power transfer throughout the service interval giving greater equipment productivity.

2.2 Wear Protection

Outstanding shear stability, viscosity retention and increased film strength provides reduced wear on
gears, bearings, and clutches to give longer transmission life and less down time.

2.3 High Temperature Protection

Provides excellent thermal, oxidation, sludge, corrosion, and deposit protection for the increased
transmission temperatures, severe service, and extended oil life.

2.4 Low Temperature Fluidity

Superior cold temperature flow characteristics assures ease of pumping, reduced wear and good
shifting capabilities, even at extremely low temperatures.
