Within the period, students will be able to:
a. Know the history and meaning of poetry and prose of Japan through
understanding.
b. Manifest an understanding on major differences between poems and prose through
examples.
c. Compose their own Waka (Poetry) and Wabun (Prose).

B. Motivation
“Pass The Question Box”
- The teacher will provide a box to be used
in the game. Wherein all of the students
will participate. When the music starts the
box will begin to pass to your students,
and when the music stop, the box holder
get answer word from the box to be
attached on the corresponding missing
words on the poem provided on the
blackboard. If the student get the correct
answer will have a reward and those failed - (Students participates)
to answer will receive a reward.

After 5 minutes....

based on the activity that we have done, Ma’am.

rich culture and traditions.

Japan, let’s now proceed to their Poetry.

- There are 10 types of Japanese Poetry


which includes the; Haiku, Kanshi, Renga,
Renku, Waka, Tanka, Haikai, Haibun,
Katauta and Sedoka.

But we will just focus on the Classical - Yes Ma’am


Period Poetry which is Waka. Are you
ready?

- Let’s start!

- Waka is the earliest Japanese poetry

already know what Syair and Pantun
means. So we can also notice their
difference. So what have you detected what
must their difference?

- Yes, and Syair is also more melodic and - Prose has 3 kinds, which are the Ancient,
recited like a song. While Pantun is recited Transitional and New Prose.

- Prose is to describe a fact or ideas and it

- Poetry is a type of literature of literature


or artistic writing that attempts to stir a

- Pantun is a four-lined verse consisting of
alternating roughly rhyming lines.

- Pantun usually ends with ABAB Ma’am.


- Syair can be narrative poem, didactic
poem or a poem use to convey idea on
religion or philosophy.

-They have 2 poetic forms which is the


Syair and Pantun.

- Pantun is a rhyming quatrains and Syair


is narrative poetic form

9-10. Differentiate Pantun and Shair.
V. Assignment
Group yourselves into two. In 1/8 illustration board.
Group 1 will make a poem using the elements of Pantun.
Group 2 elements of Syair.

To be passed on Monday.
