THE LEARNER’S DEVELOPMENT PROFILE (Outline)

The Learners’ Development Profile

Name of the Learner KYLA H. JARDINEZ

School San Francisco Javier College
Date of Home Visit September 11, 2022
Date of Birth: March 16, 2006 Age: 16 yrs. old
Grade/Year Level: Grade 11- St. Rita Gender: Female
Family Profile
Number of Siblings: 9
Birth Order: 9th child/ youngest child
Parent: Marilou H. Jardinez & Danny L. Jardinez
Mother: Marilou H. Jardinez
Age: 59 yrs. old
Occupation: Brgy. God-monitoring Educational Attainment:High School Graduate
Father: Danny Jardinez
Occupation: Former Brgy. Council Educational Attainment: 3rd Year College Level

Physical Development
Kyla is physically fit, she is tall and a bit chubby. Since she’s a sporty one, she
loves performing active exercises. There are certain foods that she doesn’t want to eat (vegetables)
and sweets like cakes, and chocolates are her favorite.
Social Development
She is a shy and a loner type of student. She well- behaves in class. She has a few
friends/ troup of friends. She’s very independent and self-reliant as she grow up with her mother only

Emotional-Moral Development
Kyla is not open to her mother whenever she felt sad or bother on someone/
something. She is not a vocal person. She is emotionally okay, the environment that her parent has
given to her help her to become a good child. She has a sound behavior wherein she knows to follow
the rules. Her mother is an authoritarian parent wherein she’s still considerate and understanding to
her child. Her mother always encourage Kyla to do her best and enjoy what she’s doing. Though her
mother is a bit strict at times and gives her punishment. The love and care is always at the top of her
priority as a mother.

Cognitive Development
As to his cognitive development, student’s interest is in both academic and sports,
her low confidence hinders her skills to shine. She loves joining in swimming competition, and likes
to write pieces and draw animies. She’s also good in writing essays. Filipino is her favorite subject
while Math is the subject that she felt difficulty with.

Findings
As I’ve observed, the learner is physically and emotionally fit because her mother is
very supportive in her. She is a shy and loner so she has only a few friends. She behaves very well in
class and is not talkative that hinders her chance to develop her skills more academically. She is a
type of student vary from other students when it comes to their home environment, skills and in level
of confidence.
Conclusions
The parent of the student did a great role with Kyla’s attitude and behavior.
Through her clear, and specific rules at home, Kyla is responsible and matured enough in thinking.

Recommendations
Since Kyla has a lot of good skills academically, I suggest that her parent must keep
on encouraging her child to shine, and to share her skills by not being shy nor keeping all her
emotions in herself. The parent must strategize some ways that could give a way for her child to be
closer and more open to her.
ANALYZE

Your findings and recommendations in the Learner Development Profile will help you
answer the questions here.

1. From your home visit and interview, what do you think is the style of parenting experienced by the
learner? Explain your answer.
 From the home visit and interview I’ve conducted, I think that the “authoritative parenting
style” was experienced by the learner. Her mother knows when to say No and Yes to her.
From the upbringing style that her mother used, I just noticed that she is so shy and timid. I’ve
seen that her parents are nurturing, responsive, and supportive, yet she set firm limits for her
children. The parent attempts to control children's behavior by explaining rules, discussing,
and reasoning.

2. Relating your data with what you learned from child development, what family factors do you
think contribute to the development and over-all adjustments of the learner in school?
 As what I learned in Child and Adolescent Development, the factors that contributes to the
development and over-all adjustments of the learner in school are the following. Of course
first, it contributes how the learners are nurtured by his parents or the parenting style by the
parents. The second one is the child’s financial setting and then the last one is the cultural
background of the family unit that the child came from. This three (3) factors greatly
contribute on the development or the adjustment that the child needs to do. For example, from
the way the child was treated in their home if he/she has a good and harmonious relationship
built in home, it will happen that in school a child will greatly develop his/her skills in
cooperating and listening also to the teachings and advices of his/her teachers.

3. Does the communication between the home-school have an effect on the learner? If yes, what are
these effects?
 Yes, communication between the home-school have a direct effect on the learner. In a way that
if the home-school has built a harmonious relationship through constant consultation,
feedback and monitoring. The child/ student will also feel that the school is like his home also,
where he is welcomed, safe and accepted. If the school understands how this home nurtures
the child, they can also determine what they should do to provide what the child needs.
Eventually, the home will provide continuous support to the school in helping the learner
develop and succeed in his learning.

4. How can the teacher partner with the community to contribute development and learning of the
students? Who are the people or which institutions can the teacher tap to seek advice regarding the
development and learning of students
 For the teacher and community to contribute development and learning of the students, they
must establish a good relationship with each other through collaboration. Teachers may tap
the parents of the students as well as local organization in the community in developing
interventions or programs and incorporate their knowledge in the curriculum. The teacher
may also ask the parents to provide the best learning environment in their home and find
opportunities for teachers to conduct home visitation. By this effort of cooperation and
collaboration towards one another it would greatly help the learning and the development of
the students.
REFLECT

1. Reflect to your own development as a child. What type of parenting did you experience? How did
it affect you?
 When I was a child, I experience to be upbring in a family where my parents are the authority.
My parent focuses on adherence to authority. Instead of me rewarding positive behavior, my
authoritarian parent only provides feedback in the form of punishments for misbehavior. I grow
up with the mindset of doing the best that wouldn’t get me punished. Instead of growing up with
the freedom, I grow up with the fear of my parent’s reaction. This type of parenting style has a
positive impact yet has a negative impact towards me whereas I become perfecti -ionsist and I
became afraid to do mistake. In terms of it’s positive effects , I’ve realized that this parenting
style, I became, independent, responsible and self-reliant.

2. As a future teacher, how would you establish good home-school collaboration? How can you work
well with the parents? How can you help them? How can they help you?

 Home-school collaboration is an important step in supporting a child’s positive engagement in

the learning and social aspects of school life. Since parents, teachers and the community are all
part of the student’s environment, educators must take concern to have a collaboration with one
another. The goal of enhancing children’s competence, participation, and positive learning and
social behaviors cannot be achieved by teachers alone and requires active partnerships with
families. As a future teacher, I would make a way for I and the parents to have a meeting about
their child’s class performance, attitude and behavior, and the activities /projects that would
benefit their child. Since effective partnerships will benefit from clear and open communication
with a focus on shared goals, shared language and shared supports. Having a good
communication to parents on checking how well the students are doing is one of the positive
thing that I can do. I as a future teacher, will state my willingness to communicate with the
parent. I will not wait wait for challenges or problem to arise before I initiate parents-teachers
conference. Rather, I would do my best to schedule, prepare and share the class performance or
standing of each students on their parents. I would share positive stories, events and progress
with one another whenever possible. Since parents are the ones who knows their child very well,
they can help me For parents whose children receive extra support for learning, behaviour or
social challenges, it is important to share relevant information amongst all parties such as the
classroom teacher, teacher aide, learning support teacher, guidance counsellor and therapists.
When the parties in home and school are honest about their concerns, their skills and their need
for support, expectations are clear and families and educators can work together in developing
relevant and achievable goals. When teachers and families work in partnership to seek solutions
there are benefits for all involved.
