PAPER 2 On the Characteristics of Jesuit Education

NAME Isabella Manliguis Suyat SECTION YD DATE 08—28-2022

1. Identify and explain a Characteristic of Jesuit Education (any of the 28

characteristics) that supports or affirms Xavier-Ateneo as (1) a University, (2)
Filipino, (3) Catholic, and (4) Jesuit in character. Note: Going back and review
Module 1, Lesson 1. Make sure that your answer will include the four (4) main
characters mentioned.
I like the characteristic the life-long openness to growth. As someone who is and will
always be growing, and as someone who is only human especially, I am not excused to
making mistakes. I have countless of times where I thought I was right. Later in life I was
able to humble down and accept that I was wrong. It was hard at first, and still can be
sometimes, but there is joy in knowing that you are always given the opportunity to change,
to grow, and to make up for your lapses.

2. How can you help fulfill the Characteristics of Jesuit Education in your own way as
a student of XU?
I have not encountered an education as deep and intensive as the one XU offers, and for
that, I will forever be grateful. I find myself using the words “as an Atenean who is being
taught of the Jesuit Education” when I converse with people. It makes me feel proud, and
gives me the assurance that what I’m doing is right because I am basing my actions
according to the Ignatian way of living. A way I can help fulfill the Characteristics of Jesuit
Education is by continuing to be an example, to my peers especially. And one of the most
important traits to me is to remain to be teachable. Open to constructive criticism.

(Please do not go beyond 1 page.)

I CERTIFY MY SINCERITY AND TRUTHFULNESS IN THIS WORK.
