Assessment on Veneration without Understanding and Who made Rizal our national hero

1. What is the main idea of Professor Renato Constantino in his article “Veneration
without Understanding” and Professor Esteban De Ocampo in his article “Who
Made Jose Rizal our Foremost National Hero and Why?”. Explain.
- The statements and ideas in both articles are different. Prof. Constantino's veneration on
understanding centers on the question of whether Dr. Jose Rizal is truly deserving of the
title of national hero. He claimed that people are being blinded by too much information,
putting aside the question of whether Rizal is worthy of all the praises and recognition he
is receiving. In Prof Constantino’s article, he gives a variety of arguments for opposing
Rizal's role as our national hero. The first is that, in his opinion, Rizal did not truly
encouraged freedom because he stated that Rizal said in the letter, he wrote in his cell
that he does not want our countrymen to fight for our freedom because he knows that this
will result to violence of people’s action. The second reason is that Constantino claimed
that American played a big role in making Jose Rizal our national hero just because
Rizal’s works does not oppose the American in any aspect. Furthermore, Mr. Constantino
stated that there are a lot of heroes who also fought for our country like Andres
Bonifacio, Gabriela Silang, and Emilio Aguinaldo, but as what Constantino claims, but
the American supports Rizal because unlike Rizal, the heroes that I mentioned can be an
act of opposing to the American’s principles. The Last one is that
