My Life at Secondary School

My name is Larry Lam. I’m twelve years old. My hobbies are singing and I like
studying at the roof-top garden of my secondary school. During the past six years, I was a
primary school student and I was drowned by homework, responsibilities, problems, and all
kinds of other things. Now, I am in secondary school. This reminds me of one thing --- the
beginning of a new challenge in my life. My secondary school is called ‘Buddhist Wong Fung
Ling College’. My school has many new facilities that my primary school doesn’t have, like
laboratory, roof-top garden and the coolest place in the school, Media Innovation Unit,
which has lots of cool and complicated equipment for film-making.

My experience in this new school has been filled with funny and happy moments,
and many of them come from the school’s clubs. My school has many clubs such as Art Club,
Choir, English Club and MIU (Media Innovation Unit). Luckily I’m a member of the School
Choir. When I was still in my primary school, I always wanted to join the school choir because
it represented the school and frequently won trophies and medals in different competitions.
For our secondary school choir, we usually meet every Friday at the music room. There are
many cool musical instruments that I haven’t seen before.

In my S1D class, there are about thirty students. At first, there was nobody I know.
But now, I have lots of new friends and they are all very kind. Although we may have some
arguments sometimes, we will reconcile after some time.

In our class, everyone has a classroom duty, like pulling down and up the projector
screen, sweeping the floor, tidying up the desks and chairs, shutting down all the electrical
appliance and electronic equipment after school, etc.

Our form teacher, Miss Chan, always says to us, ‘For maintaining classroom
hygiene, everybody should help with the classroom duties.’ So, we take turns to do the
duties in the classroom every day. Once I saw many ants in another classroom, so I’m very
glad that our classroom is tidy and clean.

Last but not least, I want to tell you about my teachers. I think all the teachers in
our school are very nice, especially my English teacher. He is very kind and he has improved
my English a lot.

So far, my secondary school life has made me learn a lot. It let me learn how to
strive harder for my study and teaches me not to bury my head in the sand when facing

difficulties. We should be enthusiastic about learning, have confidence and always be
positive when we are experiencing difficulties.
