A Blasted Confession
by Halcyonranhuer

Summary

Bakugou's trying to make out his feelings about Midoriya, which for him is confusing as
hell.
(Chinese translations avaliable now)

Notes

Now I am with a BakuDeku (is that what they call the ship?) fic. I always thought that
Bakugou's not just tsundere but he is actually pretty simple. Like that was why he just
dismissed Midoriya when he told Bakugou about All-For-One and he gets angry pretty
much all the time.
Kirishima's a dense guy so whatever he says about Bakugou and Midoriya later is actually
a joke. This is from the perspective of Bakugou, so some terms are pretty crude here, like
he calls Todoroki "Half-ass" and Uraraka "Anti-gravity Bitch". I feel that it would be so
adorable if Uraraka comes to call Deku, "Dek-kun".

One thing about Bakugou was that his feelings often came mix with explosive tendencies. Hence,
more than not, he never really understood them. It was not a matter of not trying, he did, but his
fuse was short lived and his practical mind made them even harder to comprehend. Eventually, he
limited himself to simpler emotions such as happy, sad or angry.
After all, what he deduced from his life throughout, was to be the best. The simple feelings that
came with the achievement were the ones he felt the most strongly for and he liked that.

However, there would be this one person who always seemed to add an unwanted confusion to
these feelings. Bakugou did not like change. He was fine with simple. Complexity made
annoyance and irritation in him surged more.

Midoriya Izuku, even the thought of him made his blood boil and his face red.

He met that ‘Deku’ in kindergarden. Deku had always been a peculiar kind of person. He was not
like the other children, personality and quirk wise. He was everything different from Bakugou,
polar opposites, and the only thing they seemed to have in similar was their admirations towards
All-Might.

Deku was quirkless. Deku was such a busybody. Deku was an idiot who cannot seem to do
anything right. Deku was always alone. Deku was a coward.
Deku had eyes that seemed to look into his heart. Bakugou did not like that. His eyes seemed to pry
secrets from people and if that happened to him, everything that was simple would become
incomprehensible.

It would be confusing, foreign and unknown. Bakugou Katsuki never dealt with troublesome
things. He would blow anything up that stood in his way.

In fact, because of Deku, his admiration for All Might became a stepping stone for him to be the
number one Pro-Hero. He would be number one, Deku would see that and would stop his prying,
busybody, righteous attitude.

It was in his wildest dreams that Deku got into U.A. It was worse when he realised that Deku had a
quirk.

It happened and it messed up his momentums. It messed up with everything he had seen and
planned. Everything, and Bakugou hated it. It made what he did and said to the boy looked foolish.
His feelings would flare up too explosively and too strangely. His mind would start to set in
thoughts he never liked or knew.

Midoriya Izuku brought change in the most complex manner.

Bakugou Katsuki hated that the most.

Their first year at U.A. ended with many events and dangers. Almost half their freshmen school
year was spent combating against Villains whom he never really understood. Bakugou had joined
the Villains for a while, but it was never out of choice and only forced. They made things complex
enough, already driving his burning, unknown, unrecognised feelings out of his head.

Deku made it worse by sprinting into action to ‘save’ him. He never needed saving. He was never
frightened or confused whatnot. It was because Deku was there and he complicated every shit.
That was what he thought instead.

They ended up in a brawl with neither winning.

He never understood why he was one-part relieved when Deku said he knew his eyes were
pleading for help. He never understood why he was one-part happy that Deku copied his moves or
actually looked up to him. He never understood why he was one-part he was feeling like a total
badass when they fought together.
It drove him up the wall.

Kirishima laughed at him once, said that he got to put down his ‘man pride and chill out once in a
while’.

What man-pride?

That half-ass said that he should put away his childish actions. Seriously, he never really
understood that. The statement served to only piss him off.

A year had gone and Bakugou was slightly adapted to the change Deku brought. However, it never
stopped there. That Deku had went and invoked some complex thing inside him again.

He felt increasingly irritated when he was around him, even more so when there were others
around him. He felt even more rage whenever he recalled the moments when Deku tried to play
hero. He sometimes even wanted to throw an explosion in Deku’s face just for the sake that he
would look at him.

“Dude, you’re in love with Midoriya or something?” Kirishima joked one day and Bakugou blew
up whatever that was in his palms.

“What are you f—king saying?” He had pulled the red head by the collar, yelling into his face, as if
whatever Kirishima said was totally offensive.

“Seriously. When Jirou said you two actually act like an old married couple sometimes, I just
thought, hey it seems true!”

“Hah-?!” Bakugou growled in reply but Kirishima cut him off smoothly.

“I mean he never really stopped calling you ‘Kacchan’. Not to mention that you two would quarrel
like mad and then pull something spectacular outta thin air to kick bad guys’ butts.” The boy
paused with a mischievous look on his face. “More than that, you’ve been grumbling about him
while staring at him talking to Todoroki at the opposite table.”

Kirishima then broke into laughter as he playfully pointed a finger.

The conversion ended with an explosion in Kirishima’s face. Though the guy just used his
hardening quirk and was not entirely affected whatsoever.

However, the words sunk and stuck like glue. It did not help that the strange new complex feeling
came bubbling up again, even stronger than it was before. It annoyed him to the point that he
started sourcing for answers.

They all said that he was in love, even that crazy mother of his said so when she screamed at him
not to blow up the laptop again.

Bakugou had no understanding of that relation and he got even more upset at Deku. Even more so
when he discovered that the messy head was deliberately avoiding him and that he got a confession
from some girl Bakugou did not even know of.

Apparently, no one could stand in the five metre radius where both Deku and Bakugou were
without getting several pockets of fire and dust in their eyes. Either that or their ears would suffer
loud, obnoxious insults.

It was only when he saw Deku getting heavily injured because he rushed to protect him from a
surprise artillery attack with that Deku-quirk when they were ambushed by the remainders of the
Villains’ Association, that according to Kirishima, he flipped out and went all Demonic overlord on
them.

“You know, when Aizawa and All Might they came to our aid with the other Pro-Heroes, they
really couldn’t tell who was the Villain anymore.” The red head added with a slight tremble.

“It’s not just you though, I mean though in terms of collateral damage, you did just break the
heroes record, but Todoroki and Uraraka also went berserk out there. Really, you blew everything
out!” Kaminari nodded as well.

“You almost wouldn’t let Recovery Girl near Midoriya as well.” Jirou then chuckled with a dark
glint behind her eyes, with the other two agreeing instantaneously.

“It was because she was in my damn way.” Bakugou retorted before slamming the door in their
faces.

Bakugou never really fought for the sake of anyone before.

The moment he realised that, a part of something just clicked and everything became less
complicated, even it was a bit.

--
“Deku!”

Said person turned to look at him, with slight trepidation and a little cautious in his movements.
Deku was on the hospital bed. Though even if the boy wanted to escape, he would not have been
able to run anywhere other than the confines of four walls in the room. All the more since Bakugou
was standing at the door and the only window would lead to the downward path from the fifteenth
floor.

Deku was also handicapped, with a thick cast on one arm, the other not moving very well and just
released from surgery yesterday. Bakugou felt rage boiling within him once more. He gripped his
hands tightly. An explosion in a patient’s room would definitely lead to some form of penalty.

“Kacchan! I am glad you are alright.” Deku showed his usual wriggly smile, bobbed his head up
and down as a greeting, since he was unable to wave. Though the shock still hadn’t faded from
green eyes.

“I never needed your damn help! If you would just stand aside and let me take them down! It’s all
because you were bloody sticking your nose into everywhere and blocking my way- I don’t need
your help okay! I didn’t ask for it.” Bakugou shouted instead.

Deku nodded, now more surprised than shock. “Did…Did Kacchan come all the way here to tell
me all that?”

“Make sure that sinks in your f—king nerd head!”

Deku smiled a little and nodded as Bakugou stormed out of the room.

It was then the blond boy paused and ruffled the hair on his head, feeling a lot more congested than
before.

--
However, he had stopped flaring up in the presence of Deku. For some reason, there would be this
other thought in his head that he should rein in whenever he saw Deku.

“Hey!” He swerved around, turned out that it was that anti-gravity bitch that Deku always hung
around with.

“What, lady?” He felt the fire in his palms again. The idea that they were close fuelled the flame
into an even brighter one.

“No, I saw you on the way so I decided I want to catch up and talk for a bit-” Before she finished,
he just swung his back over and headed towards the school’s exit.

“Hey!” She cried out from behind as she caught up to him. “Deku really admires you. He goes like
praising you to even defending you sometimes. I really don’t know about your relationship but
everyone says you’ve gotten nicer to Dekkun recently!”

Bakugou mentally snorted. He briefly recalled that half-ass saying that their relationship, his and
Deku’s, could possibly be the most complicated, conflicting and contradictory relationship in the
world.

There was no like. As far All Might and all the teachers at U.A. were concerned, both of them were
on horribly bad terms. Yet also, there was no actual hate between both of them. Both could shout,
yell and have an infinite amount of unresolved tension, while in the next moment, create the best
fighting combination with the highest attack power.

“Shuddit.” He then snarled his only answer to the girl before making his way home.

--
He saw Midoriya down the hallway.

By then, his feelings had now churned into something that resembled a dormant volcano waiting to
erupt any moment and destroy another Pompeii.

You know what, the voice in his head said, f—k this.

With that, he shoved the green head and pressed against him onto the wall, slamming his lips onto
the other. Deku tapped his back in shock, but otherwise did not resist so much, or that he was
already stiffed with the mind overload.

There were no insults, no fire, no anger. Just heated feelings; feelings that made his blood boil and
his face red.

Deku’s face was red as well.

Bakugou took a few steps away from Deku, face red and panting as well, his feelings exploding
within. He saw Deku placing scarred fingers on swollen lips.

“Kacchan…?”

“Shut up!”

Half-ass apparently saw that scene and was sorely disturbed by it. He would probe Deku, asking
him if he was alright and not doing this out of mental guilt or anything. It concluded with Aizawa
having to restrain him from killing the half-ass.

Someone said that he had been a lot nicer to Deku recently. He did not really notice. He always did
whatever he felt like. Deku did not say anything, but neither did he shrink away from him anymore.

Still all this was a very foreign concept to him and occasionally, it did irk him to no end. His
explosive tantrums he threw were less severe and more tamed, he also found less of a need to blast
it at Deku, his words were not as ‘childish’ (whatever that half-ass meant) or crude as before.

Though he had quite a long way to go when it came to another level of actually holding hands and
actually kissing, not the frenzied and confused madness kind of body contact.

He was slightly happy when he saw that Deku was willing to wait. A tame, mild sort of pleasurable
feelings.

Strangely, it felt even better than being number one.
