March 2022.
BEAUTY DÜSSELDORF, the No. 1 meeting point for Cosmetics, Nail, Foot, Wellness & Spa, will

TEST 3 - Tips for getting rid of acne scars

Acne's tough. It's painful, it can be difficult to treat and it can knock confidence. Even if you're able
to get things under control, there's still the question of the acne scars left behind, which can last
long after the initial breakout. The good news is that dermatologists and skincare experts are
confident that acne scars can be cleared – or at the very least, faded – as long as you're willing to
commit.
1) Stop picking your face. Spot picking is a slippery slope which can lead to lasting damage. In fact,
it's one of the main contributors to acne scarring.
2) Make sure you're maintaining a good cleansing routine – morning and night. A proper twice-a-
day cleansing routine is paramount in acne control, and the amount of product you use is key – you
should use an amount equal to the size of a water bottle lid. Any less can result in breakouts as dirt
and makeup debris may still be clogging pores. Double cleansing can also be extremely beneficial
for acne-prone skin, especially when removing makeup.
3) Don't disregard retinol. Retinol (vitamin A) in mild doses dries out sebum production, and the
chances of the pores becoming clogged are reduced, ultimately decreasing the chance of acne
breakouts.
4) Try a professional treatment. The most effective way to rid the skin of acne scarring is through a
treatment performed in clinic, such as microdermabrasion, laser resurfacing or a peel. Scarred skin
can be fragile, so it's extremely important to speak to a skin specialist before deciding on a
treatment.

TEST 4 - An ancient technique: hot stone massage

The origins of hot stone therapy can be traced back to over 2,000 years ago, when the Chinese used
heated stones as a means of improving the function of internal organs. It consists in a specialist
massage that uses smooth, flat, heated basalt stones that are positioned on key acupressure points,
meaning along your spine, in the palms of your hands, along your legs and between the toes.
Typically from river beds, basalt stones are used for massage as they have a rich iron content that
retains heat. Your spa therapist will warm the stones in water until they are within the precise
temperature range of between 120 and 130 degrees Fahrenheit.
A hot stone massage may begin with a traditional Swedish massage technique to prepare your
muscles, then the stones warm and relax your muscles, allowing deeper pressure to be applied
during your massage.
Using massage oil and a combination of strokes and techniques, your spa therapist will massage
your neck, back, arms and legs, with and without the stones. You should always tell your spa
therapist if the stones are too warm or the pressure is too intense.
Allow plenty of time for your hot stone treatment; arrive 10 minutes early to allow yourself time to
relax. If it is your first time at the spa you’ll be asked to complete a pre-treatment health
questionnaire. Avoid eating a heavy meal or drinking alcohol prior to the treatment.

salon. “Intimate waxing for pregnant clients can be daunting, but it needn’t be. It can be challenging
when you’re faced with a pregnant client. You don’t know which way to sit them, you worry if
they’re warm enough or too hot. So, it’s all about knowledge and confidence,” says Jo Weller,
master trainer at waxing specialist salon group and training school, Mooeys.
When is it safe to wax a pregnant client in salon?
“Therapists and clients often ask when they can have an intimate wax treatment during pregnancy,”
says Marta Zaczkowska, director and chief executive of London salon and academy Waxing
Specialist. “I advise that clients can have an intimate wax from 12 weeks, through to 38 weeks. It’s
also important to judge on a case-by-case basis. Let’s say I have someone who comes to the salon
for the first time, who I’ve never waxed before, and they are 38 weeks pregnant and have shaved
throughout their pregnancy. There is no way I would do a Hollywood for them,” explains
Zaczkowska.
“I also create a pregnancy waxing plan, which I give to them at the end of their appointment,” she
adds. “I write when they are due and when I want them to come back. Don’t leave them to decide
for themselves when they come back for their next appointment. By providing this service you will
create a loyal client.”
