UNIT IV – SNAPPING, CONSTRUCTION ELEMENTS

Name: John Vincent B. Mercado Year & Section: 1st year BSECE - 1A
Instructor: Walvies Mc Alcos Date: October / 16 / 2021

4.2 Pre-Assessment

1. Identify the object snap tools and it’s uses.

END POINT- snaps to the end points of lines and areas and to polyline vertices.
MIDPOINT- snaps to the mid points of lines and arcs and to the midpoint of polyline
segments
INTERSECTION- snaps to the physical intersection of any two drawing objects (i.e.
where lines, arcs or circles etc. cross each other) and to polyline vertices.
APPARENT INTERSECT- snaps to the point where objects appear to intersect in the
current view.
EXTENSION- enables you to snap to some point along the imaginary extension of line,
arc or polyline segment.
QUADRANT- snaps to one of the four circle quadrant points located at north, south,
east and west or 90, 270, 0 and 180 degrees respectively.
TANGENT- you can draw a line from a point to the tangent point or you can draw a
line from a tangent point.
PERPENDICULAR- used to draw a line to a perpendicular point as in the illustration or
from a perpendicular point, known as the ‘Deferred Perpendicular’ snap mode.
PARALLEL- is used to draw a line parallel to any other line in your drawing.
INSERT- snaps to the insertion point of block, text or an image.
NODE- uses when you created a number of points with the measure or divide.
NEAREST- uses if you want to make sure that the pick point lies on a drawing object
but you don’t necessarily mind exactly where it is located.

4.4 Assessment

1. Discuss on how you can use at least 3 of the discussed object snap tools
identified on this packet. (10points)
PERPENDICULAR- to use it, make sure you have a perpendicular snap turned on.
Start the line command and click at a point to the reference line and then move
your cursor over the reference line. The perpendicular snap will show up at the
point of perpendicularity on the reference line.
CENTER- select the center snap from the object snap list. One of the curve
objects then select any draw command like line tool and hover your cursor near the
perimeter of the circular object. Hovering near the perimeter of the object will
cause a plus-sign to appear in the center of the object. The green center object-
snap icon should wrap around the white-plus sign.
MIDPOINT- with the snap selected and a draw command active move your cursor
close to the mid-point of a line or arc. A green triangle indicating midpoint will
show up and when you click the cursor will snap exactly to the midpoint.
