MIDTERM PERIOD

I-INTRODUCTION

Hello Students! Welcome to the midterm period. This midterm period is composed of 5 Sunday meetings.
Literacy Training Service(LTS) is a component of NSTP that focuses on training students to become teachers
of reading-writing literacy and numeracy to children, out-of-school youth, and other segments of society.
The teaching-learning engagement of literacy training should be designed in a classroom setting. Unfortunately,
due to the pandemic that we are facing right now, the classroom setting learning engagement is impossible to
happen. With this, LTS students are advised to stay at home and continue learning through this module. In order
to make the learning experience meaningful, LTS students are advised to follow the designed modules and cite
for other references.

II-GENERAL OBJECTIVES
At the end of this period, students are expected to:
a. design an effective lesson plan.
b. internalize the essence of lesson plan in a classroom setting.
c. apply the parts of lesson plan in actual teaching of literacy service to children, out-of-school youth, and
other segments of society.

A. Objectives
At the end of this topic, the students will be able to:
a. identify the important parts of lesson plan.
b. appreciate the importance of reading skills.
c. integrate the reading skills in a detailed lesson plan.

B. INTRODUCTION:
What is Reading?
"Reading" is the process of looking at a series of written symbols and getting meaning from them. When
we read, we use our eyes to receive written symbols (letters, punctuation marks and spaces) and we use our
brain to convert them into words, sentences and paragraphs that communicate something to us.
Reading is the process of taking in the sense or meaning of letters, symbols, etc., especially by sight or touch.
For educators and researchers, reading is a multifaceted process involving such areas as word
recognition, orthography (spelling), alphabetics, phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension,
fluency, and motivation
Articulation (pronunciation and talking) is the ability to physically move the tongue, lips, teeth and jaw
to produce sequences of speech sounds, which make up words and sentences.
What are the four types of articulation errors?
There are four types of errors in articulation. These are best remembered as the acronym S.O.D.A. SODA
stands for Substitution, Omission, Distortion, and Addition.

ACTIVITY: Research the four articulation errors(SODA) and provide atleast 5 examples of each. 20pts.

and looked about. His sixth sense worked and he came to know the reality. So, he called out to the lion from
outside and said, "How are you, sir?"
The lion replied, "I am not feeling well at all. But why don't you come inside?"
Then the fox replied, "I would love to come in, sir! But on seeing, all foot prints going to your cave and none
coming out, I would be foolish enough to come in."
Saying so, the fox went to alert the other animals.

invitation and reached the fox's place at sunset.

extremely amused.
After few days, the crane invited the fox to dine in with him. The fox reached his place well in time. The crane
gave him a warm welcome and served the soup in a jug with a long and narrow neck.

through the narrow neck of the jug. He had to return home hungry. Now he realized that he had been repaid for
his behaviour with the crane.
ACTIVITY: 100 pts of each lesson plan. Total, /200 pts.
Instruction: Using the short story above, make a two semi-detailed lesson plan or two sessions about

B. INTRODUCTION

What is speaking skills?

Speaking skills are defined as the skills which allow us to communicate effectively. They give us the ability to
convey information verbally and in a way that the listener can understand.
What are the types of speaking skills?
