I-INTRODUCTION
Hello Students! Welcome to the midterm period. This midterm period is composed of 5 Sunday meetings.
Literacy Training Service(LTS) is a component of NSTP that focuses on training students to become teachers
of reading-writing literacy and numeracy to children, out-of-school youth, and other segments of society.
The teaching-learning engagement of literacy training should be designed in a classroom setting. Unfortunately,
due to the pandemic that we are facing right now, the classroom setting learning engagement is impossible to
happen. With this, LTS students are advised to stay at home and continue learning through this module. In order
to make the learning experience meaningful, LTS students are advised to follow the designed modules and cite
for other references.
II-GENERAL OBJECTIVES
At the end of this period, students are expected to:
a. design an effective lesson plan.
b. internalize the essence of lesson plan in a classroom setting.
c. apply the parts of lesson plan in actual teaching of literacy service to children, out-of-school youth, and
other segments of society.

IV- CHAPTER 1-SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN MAKING ON ENHANCEMENT OF READING
SKILLS.
A. Objectives
At the end of this topic, the students will be able to:
a. identify the important parts of lesson plan.
b. appreciate the importance of reading skills.
c. integrate the reading skills in a detailed lesson plan.
B. INTRODUCTION:
What is Reading?
"Reading" is the process of looking at a series of written symbols and getting meaning from them. When
we read, we use our eyes to receive written symbols (letters, punctuation marks and spaces) and we use our
brain to convert them into words, sentences and paragraphs that communicate something to us.
Reading is the process of taking in the sense or meaning of letters, symbols, etc., especially by sight or touch.
For educators and researchers, reading is a multifaceted process involving such areas as word
recognition, orthography (spelling), alphabetics, phonics, phonemic awareness, vocabulary, comprehension,
fluency, and motivation
Articulation (pronunciation and talking) is the ability to physically move the tongue, lips, teeth and jaw
to produce sequences of speech sounds, which make up words and sentences.
What are the four types of articulation errors?
There are four types of errors in articulation. These are best remembered as the acronym S.O.D.A. SODA
stands for Substitution, Omission, Distortion, and Addition.
ACTIVITY: Research the four articulation errors(SODA) and provide atleast 5 examples of each. 20pts.
C. APPLICATION
KEEP YOUR EYES OPEN
Once upon a time there was a lion that grew so old that he was unable to kill any prey for his food. So, he said
to himself, "I must do something to stay my stomach else I will die of starvation."
He kept thinking and thinking and at last an idea clicked him. He decided to lie down in the cave pretending to
be ill and then who-so-ever will come to enquire about his health, will become his prey. The old lion put his
wicked plan into practice and it started working. Many of his well-wishers got killed. But evil is short lived.
One day, a fox came to visit the ailing lion. As foxes are clever by nature, the fox stood at the mouth of the cave
and looked about. His sixth sense worked and he came to know the reality. So, he called out to the lion from
outside and said, "How are you, sir?"
The lion replied, "I am not feeling well at all. But why don't you come inside?"
Then the fox replied, "I would love to come in, sir! But on seeing, all foot prints going to your cave and none
coming out, I would be foolish enough to come in."
Saying so, the fox went to alert the other animals.

A man stopped at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who lived two hundred miles
away.As he got out of his car he noticed a young girl sitting on the curb sobbing.
He asked her what was wrong and she replied, “I wanted to buy a red rose for my mother.
But I only have seventy-five cents, and a rose costs two dollars.”
The man smiled and said, “Come on in with me. I’ll buy you a rose.”
He bought the little girl her rose and ordered his own mother’s flowers.
As they were leaving he offered the girl a ride home.
She said, “Yes, please! You can take me to my mother.”
She directed him to a cemetery, where she placed the rose on a freshly dug grave.
The man returned to the flower shop, canceled the wire order, picked up a bouquet and drove the two hundred
miles to his mother’s house.
ACTVIVITY: 100 pts.
Instruction: Using the short story above, make a semi-detailed lesson plan about the enhancement of listening
skills. In your lesson plan the READING ACTIVITY(as for GROUP ACTIVITY) and READING
COMPREHENSION(as for EVALUATION) must be your focus. You can make questionnaire in assessing the
reading comprehension. Follow the guide below in your lesson plan making.

VII- CHAPTER 4- SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN MAKING ON ENHANCEMENT
OF SPEAKING SKILLS
A. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the topic, the LTS students are expected to:
a. design an affective lesson plan for enhancement of speaking skills.
b. appreciate the different ways in designing the lesson plan in enhancement of speaking
skills.
c. demonstrate the designed lesson plan in enhancement of speaking skills.
B. INTRODUCTION
ACTIVITY: Research the definition of the four speaking skills and explain. 20 pts, 5 pts each.
C. APPLICATION
MOUNTAIN
"A son and his father were walking on the mountains.
Suddenly, his son falls, hurts himself and screams: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!" To his surprise, he hears the
voice repeating, somewhere in the mountain: "AAAhhhhhhhhhhh!!!"
Curious, he yells: "Who are you?"
He receives the answer: "Who are you?"
And then he screams to the mountain: "I admire you!"
The voice answers: "I admire you!"
Angered at the response, he screams: "Coward!"
He receives the answer: "Coward!"
He looks to his father and asks: "What's going on?"
The father smiles and says: "My son, pay attention."
Again the man screams: "You are a champion!"
The voice answers: "You are a champion!"
The boy is surprised, but does not understand.
Then the father explains: "People call this ECHO, but really this is LIFE.
It gives you back everything you say or do. Our life is simply a reflection of our actions.
If you want more love in the world, create more love in your heart.
If you want more competence in your team, improve your competence.
This relationship applies to everything, in all aspects of life; Life will give you back everything you have
given to it."
YOUR LIFE IS NOT A COINCIDENCE. IT'S A REFLECTION OF YOU!"

What is Arithmetic skills?
Arithmetic skills are necessary life tools that children must learn. As adults, we use arithmetic daily. We add, subtract,
multiply, or divide when we balance our check-books, calculate tips in restaurants, figure out how much wallpaper to buy,
finance a car, keep score for games, and so on.
Basic Arithmetic skills involving: addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions, decimals,
percentages, square root, and exponents. Examples: 1) 306 multiplied by 34 is 5). 60 is 25% of what number?
C. APPLICATION
Instruction: Make a semi-detailed lesson plan about Arithmetic skills. You can choose from the 4 basic
math(ADDITION, SUBSTRACTION, MULTIPLICATION, DIVISION) on what competence to be used. Cite
a reference from other sources, like, basic elementary mathematics.
