The Project-based learning or PBL is a student-centered, inquiry-based instructional model

designed to give the learners the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills through engaging
projects set around challenges and problems they may face in the real world.

The SHS of Luis Hervias National High School had adopted PBL at the height of the pandemic
in 2020 and continued this instructional approach up to the present because of its expected
effectiveness in developing students’ knowledge and transferable skills. This year, the JHS,
specifically the Grade 7 HERON, has started its initial implementation/integration of PBL to the
learners.

The Monitoring and Evaluation team, in the pursuit of excellence, has conducted a survey and an
FGD with the grade 7 Heron students last February 21-24, 2022 to evaluate how program or activities
are done and to solicit suggestions to make necessary corrections or changes to better the processes for
improved outcome.

A total of 43 learners participated in the survey and FGD wherein 22 or 51% were females and
21 or 49% were males

In terms of the PBL sessions improving their understanding of the lectures provided within the
modules, 37 respondents or 86% agreed; 4 students or 9% have strongly agreed; while
