Pursuant to DepEd Order No.

001 Series of 2024, Catch Up Fridays commenced on January 12, 2024,with


an orientation session followed by the inaugural day of activities. The program aims to provide
additionalsupport and learning opportunities for students who may have encountered challenges during
the previousacademic year, ensuring that they are equipped with the necessary skills to succeed.
Similarly, to bolster the basic education priorities articulated in the MATATAG Agenda andaccelerate the
achievement of education targets as stipulated in DepEd Order (DO) No. 013, s. 2023 title Adoption of
the National Learning Recovery Program (NLRP), there is a need to intensify Values, Health, and Peace
Education. Values Education remains a priority in compliance with Republic Act (RA) No. 11476, Good
Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) and Values Education Act, which recognizes the vital role of the
youth innation-building. The urgency for Peace Education is a prompt response to the 2022 Program for
InternationalStudent Assessment (PISA) results which reveal that bullying remains a pervasive problem
in public schoolsand the need for Filipino learners as global citizens to acquire and strengthen peace
competencies allowingthem to become peace builders and advocates in their respective communities,
while Health Educationdemands stronger advocacy to ensure the overall health and well-being of
learners.

The day began with a comprehensive orientation session, gathering students, parents, and educators
inthe school. The school principal, Maam Marites F. Manigbas, welcomed everyone and emphasized
thesignificance of Catch Up Fridays in addressing academic gaps and fostering a positive learning
environment.During the orientation, the objectives, schedules, and activities planned for Catch Up
Fridays wereelucidated. Parents were briefed on the curriculum, teaching methodologies, and the
expected outcomes fortheir children. Teachers discussed individualized learning plans tailored to each
student's needs and providedresources to support home-based learning.

Following the orientation, the students proceeded to their respective classrooms for the commencement
of the first Catch Up Fridays session beginning this 12th day of January 2024. The atmosphere was filled
withenthusiasm as educators implemented engaging activities designed to assess the students' current
academicstanding and identify areas that require further attention.Teachers utilized various instructional
strategies, including interactive discussions, group activities, andone-on-one consultations to cater to
diverse learning styles. Diagnostic assessments were administered to gaugethe students' proficiency
levels in key subjects.

At the end of the day, a brief feedback session was conducted to gather insights from the
studentsthrough the used of Reflection Journals. Initial observations and progress were discussed, and
any concernsraised were addressed promptly. This feedback mechanism is integral to the adaptive
nature of Catch UpFridays, ensuring that the program remains responsive to the evolving needs of the
students.

The orientation and first day of Catch Up Fridays on January 12, 2024, marked a successful start tothis
initiative. With a strong foundation laid through comprehensive planning, dedicated educators, and
activeparticipation from students and parents, the program is poised to make a positive impact on the
academic journey of the students throughout the academic year.
Recognizing the uniqueness of each student's learning style, CES categorizedstudents based
on their reading levels. This thoughtful categorization allowed theschool to tailor activities,
ensuring that every student could engage in meaningfullearning experiences on Catch-Up
Friday.On Catch-Up Friday, CES paused regular classes to immerse the entire school in aday dedicated
to reading. The DEAR day provided a chance for each student,regardless of their reading
proficiency, to have a personalized plan for the day focusedon the joy of reading.Activities were
designed to match the reading levels of the students. Forbeginners, cozy reading corners with
colorful picture books were created. Intermediatereaders participated in group reading sessions, while
advanced readers were givenmore challenging materials. Teachers provided support tailored to
each student'sreading level throughout the day.Beyond academic catch-up, Catch-Up Friday at
CES aimed to instill a love forreading. The school recognized the significance of nurturing a reading
culture early on,making DEAR day a celebration of stories, imagination, and the endless possibilitiesthat
books bring.CES maintained a close eye on student engagement and progress throughout theDEAR day.
Regular feedback sessions with teachers helped identify successfulpractices and areas for
improvement, ensuring an ongoing commitment to makingfuture Catch-Up Fridays even more
effective.The school looks forward to building on this initiative and exploring
furtheropportunities for inclusive and effective learning experiences as outlined in
theeducational directives set by DepEd
