1. Discuss the statement “A pregnant woman must eat for two”

- A healthy diet is essential for a pregnant woman; the woman must raise the quality
of her diet rather than quantity. The phrase "A pregnant woman must eat for two" is
a misconception that a pregnant woman must "eat for two.” Although pregnancy
increases the body's need for calories and nourishment, Babies can taste and
smell the food their mothers eat in the womb. Around 11 weeks, their taste buds
begin to develop; the baby can then taste whatever the mother eats from then on.
As a result, whatever the mother consumes will be the primary source of nutrition
for the infant. That is why it is important for a woman to monitor what she eats and
to include high-nutrient foods in her diet at all times. A healthy body results in a
healthier baby.

2. Why is it especially important for a pregnant woman to have a

highly nutritious diet?

- Nutrition is more important than ever when pregnant. Many vital nutrients are
required in greater quantities than before pregnancy. Making good meal choices
every day can help you provide your baby with the nutrients he or she requires to
develop. It will also assist in ensuring that you and your baby grow the appropriate
amount of weight. A pregnant woman must consume extremely nutritious items in
her diet since what she eats will also be the primary source of nutrients for the
baby. A balanced diet during pregnancy has been related to optimal brain
development, a healthy birth weight, and a lower risk of several birth abnormalities.

3. Why is it a good idea for a pregnant woman to include a citrus

fruit or melon with every meal?

- Citrus fruits are abundant in essential substances, minerals, and nutrients. It is

high in Vitamin C, which is necessary for the proper development of the baby's
bones. Vitamin C can also assist the mother with morning sickness and digestion.
Watermelon is also high in vitamins A, C, and B6, as well as potassium and
magnesium for cramp relief. Watermelon can also help with morning sickness,
heartburn, and dehydration. As a result, it is suggested that pregnant women
consume citrus fruits or melon at each meal to maintain the mother hydrated and
healthy.
-
4. Discuss the danger to the fetus if the mother uses drugs.

- Drugs increase the baby's chance of developing birth abnormalities. Various

medicines have been associated with miscarriage, early birth, low birth weight, and
a variety of behavioral and cognitive issues in children, as per studies. There is
also a substantial risk that a newborn will develop depending on the substance that
the mother used often while pregnant. That is why, unless essential; medicines
should not be used during pregnancy because many of them might damage the
fetus.

5. Why does the need for protein increase so dramatically during

pregnancy?

- It is essential to have a well-balanced diet when pregnant. Most mothers,

unfortunately, do not obtain enough iron, folate, calcium, vitamin D, or protein.
During pregnancy, a woman should consume at least 60 grams of protein each
day, which accounts for 20 to 25% of the mother's calorie consumption. Protein is
essential for the healthy development of the baby's tissues and organs, especially
the brain. Protein deficiency can cause health issues for both the mother and the
infant.
6. Why is breastfeeding very important to infants?

- A mother will begin producing Colostrum, a nutrient-rich fluid rich in immunological,

growth, and tissue repair components, about 16 weeks of pregnancy. This is also
one of the reasons why breastfeeding is important: Colostrum helps grow your
baby's immune system by providing antibodies that protect them from germs and
dangerous microorganisms. Breast milk keeps your baby healthy by providing all of
the necessary nutrients in the proper proportions, protecting against allergies,
sickness, and obesity, protecting against diseases such as diabetes and cancer,
and protecting infections such as ear infections. It is easily digested - no
constipation, diarrhea, or upset stomach
7. Why should the mother give her baby special attention during
feedings?

- Breastfeeding is not only beneficial to both the mother and baby but it also
strengthens the bond between the two. Breastfeeding causes the mother to
release oxytocin and prolactin which are hormones that relax the mother and make
her feel a sense of comfort and love for the baby. Although there is no right or
wrong way to go about breastfeeding a baby, as long as both the mother and the
baby are comfortable.
8. What is morning sickness, and how can it be alleviated?
Can this be truly a serious problem? Explain.

- Morning sickness is defined as nausea and vomiting that happens during

pregnancy and often begins about 6 weeks of pregnancy. Although it is rarely
severe, it may be quite painful. High hormone levels, blood pressure changes, and
alterations in glucose metabolism are all probable reasons. Morning sickness can
be relieved by carefully selecting meals, consuming lots of water, breathing fresh
air, paying attention to nausea triggers, and so on. Although rarely serious, nausea
and vomiting that can accompany pregnancy can become so severe and
unremitting that those symptoms transcend and become a disorder known as
hyperemesis gravidarum, which is a medical name for severe nausea and vomiting
during pregnancy.
9. Give at least 6 comparisons between BREASTFEEDING and
BOTTLEFEEDING.

- Breastfeeding has a perfect balance of nutrients, high levels of nutrients are readily
digested and absorbed, and the newborn selects the amount ingested, is free, and
is always at the baby's ideal temperature. Bottle feeding, on the other hand, is not
as efficiently utilized or absorbed as breast milk; its nutritional content is dependent
on proper preparation; some babies have difficulty tolerating certain nutrients; the
amount consumed is determined by a pediatrician or caregiver; it is not free, and
anyone can feed the baby.
10. What are the advantages and disadvantages
of a BREASTFEEDING?

- The benefits of breastfeeding include improved health for both the mother and the
infant. Breast milk contains natural nutrients that help protect your baby from
sickness and disease during infancy. It also continues to benefit her child's health
as they develop, even after weaning. The disadvantage of breastfeeding is that it
provides less freedom than the breast, which must be ready for every reading, day
and night. Breastfeeding can sometimes be uncomfortable. Some mothers may
experience some of the unpleasant or even painful side effects of breastfeeding.
