WHAT OUR
CLIENTS SAY

Why we turned to TAP

As a leader in the automotive industry, training and development has constantly been high on
our priority list. We’ve always attended internal certification delivered from Germany, but we
were looking for a complimentary skills development programme to support our core Learning &
Development team.
What we did with TAP
Since we discovered TAP, they have worked closely with us to define a core competence for each
job role, which all Instructors and Designers attend in the first 12-18 months of their role with VWG.
This has helped hugely with consistency and it’s enabled the employees to get the most out of
their role, supported by a structured framework. Subsequently we have worked with individual
managers to look at the most relevant skills to further develop their internal teams including
NextGen Manager (to improve employee engagement), Online Facilitation Skills (to support
delivery of live, online learning and classrooms) and Coaching Skills.
Further to the recognised structured development through TAP, it was important for us to maintain
these high standards within our Learning & Development team so we have established our own
internal quality-assurance team to assess our employees so that Delivery Skills continue to
operate at the TAP benchmark level.
The Impact of TAP
The feedback from our employees is always positive and has allowed a consistent and
professional approach to development of all learning across VWG. The language used across
delivery and development teams has become recognisable by all and their ability to support the
modern workplace with skills in Online Facilitation has dramatically improved.

Darren Boseley, Volkswagen Group

Why we turned to TAP

When we first came across TAP training, our main objectives were to protect our leading position
by improving employee engagement, upskilling our training and design teams and increase levels
of performance so that we continued to remain competitive in the ever-changing Industry.
What we did with TAP
Over the last 4 years, we’ve booked 27 delegates onto the three day training course and 11
delegates onto the L&D management courses. Two of our employees have completed the L&D
Consultancy Diploma which also includes Training Needs Analysis Courses and Learning Transfer
courses.
The Impact of TAP
TAP training has become a huge part of our Learning and Development structure and has helped
us to improve consistency across the whole L&D Team.
Mark Rainbow, BT Openreach
P22
Why we turned to TAP
Prior to discovering TAP, we had invested in ‘Preparing to Teach in the Life-long Learning
Sector’ (PTLLS) qualifications. However, they didn’t transfer to the consistency or level of quality
assurance we needed.

What we did with TAP

We looked to TAP to provide our trainers with competency based skills that could be applied
consistently and to recognised L&D Standards. TAP has dramatically improved our capability and
productivity.
Additionally; TAP has transformed and accelerated our development towards establishing a
learning culture at here at Sellafield.

The Impact of TAP

We now have 40 trainers / instructors that hold the TAP Certificate in Training Delivery Skills. We
invested further by having a core team of instructors qualified to TAP Assessor status.
This now allows us to regularly assess and quality assure our training design and delivery skills.
Learning & Development at Sellafield is a critical aspect in ensuring the safety of the Nuclear
site and the UK population, TAP is helping us ensure our training is engaging and transferred into
workplace application.

Marc Skillen, Sellafield

Why we turned to TAP

TAP training has provided us with the opportunity to create a clear pathway for the L&D
professionals within our organisation. We thought that to effectively upskill our colleagues to
improve overall performance it was necessary to have highly skilled L&D professionals with the
right quality standards across different business units.

What we did with TAP

TAP training delivered not only the skills and knowledge our L&D professionals require but
also provided us with a clear performance assessment to ensure competencies are constantly
maintained and improved.
TAP upskilled two of our business partners to become proactive L&D Consultants. Our face-
to-face trainers attended the Certificate in Delivery Skills course which has helped to create
a consistent benchmark for delivery. Our instructional designers attended the Certificate in
Design and Evaluation course, again, enabling more consistency in the development of learning
interventions. Our team supporting digital learning also attended the Certificate in e-Learning
Design, helping them to explore other ways of engaging with delegates through online learning.

The Impact of TAP

As well as receiving excellent feedback from our learners and also L&D professionals, our
designers have reviewed some of our courses to apply the best practices learned during the
training. In some cases they have managed to reduce the length of the training achieving
better outcomes from the learners which is a great cost reduction and an immediate return on
investment.
Demonstrating we have a skilled team with high quality standards also provides us with a
unique proposition and places us in a great position to compete for new contracts and business
development opportunities.
