Guidelines Rating Remarks

Place important items at Top Center 8 The placement of the important items is
placed accordingly where the end-user
can easily navigate it. With the log-in
button, create free lifetime account and
the buttons for other features.
Avoid cluttered display 7 The visual element of the webpage is
very much accessible for the end user,
however, some of the elements are
scattered and not symmetrically aligned.
Optimize display density 9 The density of the display in the
webpage is not clustered in the middle,
it is well arranged though it still have
room for improvement.

- I chose these three guidelines because it has something to do with the display and
arrangement of the website. When the user navigates the website easily, there’s a chance
that he/she will use the website once or many times more and even tell his/her friends and
family about it. Easy navigation and access are the key for a successful website. The
website that I graded got almost perfect scores because it was arranged and sorted
accordingly to how most users want websites to be arranged. Though it still have room
for improvements.

Essay Questions:
a. If you were going to develop an emergency mobile application, what HCI criteria and
category would you use as a guideline in the design and development of the application?
Why?
- The criteria and category that I will choose is Task/Operational Context and to Establish
level of importance. Since this is an emergency mobile application, this needs to be an
easy to access application. We need to utilize the buttons of the app for the user to access
it the easiest way possible and to be able to ask for help as soon as possible.

b. If you were assigned to design and develop the interface of a learning management system
for a university, what HCI criteria and category would you use as a guideline in the design
and development of the application? Why?
- The criteria and category that I will choose for this application is User Type and Place
important items consistently. Since this is a learning management system, the users are
students, and we want them to have their learning materials arranged in a clear and neat
fashion. We don’t want clustered learning material wherein the students will have a hard
time finding their modules and handouts.

c. If you were developing the interactive interface of a video editing tool, what HCI criteria
and category would you use as a guideline in the design and development of the
application? Why?
- The criteria and category that I will choose for this one is Interface style/modality and
Structure for easy comparison. This app deals with video editing wherein the user needs
tools and other materials for them to edit and arrange video clips. If the interface of the
app is easy to navigate, the editor will not have a hard time searching for the right tools to
use in video editing.
