You can find the guidelines for HCI at the following website: https://www.nngroup.com/articles/ten-
usability-heuristics/
I have selected the specific guidelines outlined in the table above because I believe they closely resonate
with the essence of the website I'm evaluating, fluidui.com, with a particular emphasis on its aesthetic and
minimalistic design. The alignment of these guidelines with the website's standards appears to be
remarkably accurate, a factor I consider essential when seeking feedback for any website, as
improvement should be an ongoing and fluid process.
Answer the following questions. Use at least five (5) sentences. (15 points each)
a. If you were going to develop an emergency mobile application, what HCI criteria and category
would you use as a guideline in the design and development of the application? Why?
When developing an emergency mobile app, prioritizing usability is crucial. Usability
includes factors like learnability, efficiency, and error prevention, which are vital in high-
stress situations where users must act quickly and accurately. In emergencies, users may
be stressed and short on time, so the app should have an intuitive interface, minimize the
risk of errors, and ensure easy access to essential features. Prioritizing usability
enhances the app's effectiveness, helping users take swift, appropriate actions when time
is critical.
b. If you were assigned to design and develop the interface of a learning management system for a
university, what HCI criteria and category would you use as a guideline in the design and
development of the application? Why?
c. If you were developing the interactive interface of a video editing tool, what HCI criteria and
category would you use as a guideline in the design and development of the application? Why?
If I were to emphasize one HCI criterion, Accessibility would be my top priority. In the
design and development of an interactive video editing tool, prioritizing Accessibility is
crucial as it caters to users with disabilities, ensuring their full participation in the video
editing process. This entails adhering to accessibility standards like WCAG (Web Content
Accessibility Guidelines), which include features such as screen reader compatibility,
keyboard navigation, and alternative text for multimedia elements. By ensuring
accessibility, the tool promotes inclusivity, enabling individuals with diverse abilities to
engage in video creation and editing, thereby fostering a more diverse and equitable user
base. Moreover, accessibility considerations often lead to improved usability for all users,
resulting in a more straightforward and intuitive interface.
