-MANUAL SCISSOR LOFT STAIRCASE

WHAT?
• This type of stair can be called as attic
staircase or retractable staircase or
scissor loft staircase or simply
collapsible staircase
• An attic ladder or loft ladder is a
retractable ladder that is installed into the
floor of an attic and ceiling of the floor
below the attic.
• Folding ladders are usually found in
lengths between 8 and 16 feet (2.4 and
4.9 m), while the greatest length is usually
10 feet (3.0 m).
• These ladders must also have footpads
attached to the butt end in order to prevent
slipping on hard and soft surfaces.
USED IN…
• They are used as an inexpensive and
compact alternative to having
a stairway that ascends to the attic of
a building.
• They are useful in areas with space
constraints that would hinder the
installation of a standard staircase.
• Attic ladders typically consist of a
ladder with wider steps and a steep

slope drawstring will hang down to
allow the ladder to be manually
extended.
• Also, fire departments carry attic
ladders on fire apparatus for use to
locate and extinguish fires in attic
spaces.
• The compatibility allows it to be
carried in attic scuttle holes, narrow
passageways, and small rooms or
closets. HORIZONTAL

ADVANTAGES
• Traditional staircase is fixed and occupies certain
space. But this staircase doesn't occupy any
space downstairs when closed.
• When there is not enough space or money to
install a staircase, pull down attic stairs provide a
cheaper and easier alternative that can also
enhance the interior.
• Staircase is sealed tightly, the hatch door can
prevent air ventilation of downstairs and
upstairs. This makes the downstairs temperature
unaffected by upstairs.
• The installation of loft ladders is possible even for a
single person. The height of the stairs can be
easily adjusted in accordance with the height of the
room, and the stairs themselves are already
assembled and do not require the installation of any
additional parts.
• Telescopic ladders usually extend at an angle of 53
to 57 degrees which makes them steeper than
regular staircase but not as steep as folding ladders
and that is why people find them easier to climb.
