THE CITY MOUSE AND THE COUNTRY MOUSE

One day a mouse who lived in the city went to visit his friend. His friend had left the city a while back and
began to live in the country.
After his long journey, the city mouse had finally arrived next to his friend in the village.
City mouse : “This place smells awful how do you live in such a place.”
After a long and tiring walk the city mouse finally arrived at his friend's field. The country mouse had
made himself a house under the ground, this is where he lived.
City mouse : “How does my friend live in such a bad environment I still don't understand.”
The city mouse knocked on the door. The country mouse opened the door he was very surprised and at
the same time he also was very happy to see his friend.
Country mouse : “Welcome my friend what brings you to this side of the town?”
City mouse : “I was bored from the city life. I’ve been meaning to come and see you and the way you
live for some time now, but I can see that you're not all that happy.
Country mouse : “Says who? Why don't you come inside and I’ll prepare something to eat.
They both came in. The city mouse was amazed to see the inside of his house
because the country mouse was living in a dark small airless little hole
City mouse : “What a dark and tiny home you have how do you live here?”
The country mouse had prepared something for his friend to eat. On the table were a piece of cheese
lettuce carrot and kernels of corn.
Country mouse : “Come on my friend, enjoy this dinner.”
The city mouse had a look at all that was on the table and said…
City mouse : “You call this a feast, back where we live the mice won't turn and have a second look at
this type of food. We have cakes pastries variety of cheese and meat. You can find
anything you desire in the city.
After the city mouse had finished his meal they began to walk around the country mouse's hometown.
The city mouse did not like where the country mouse was living, at all.
City mouse : “These type of places are not for my liking at all it's very dirty and boring. You must visit
my hometown one day. I should take you around the city. You must see it. I’m sure you
won't come back here.”
The following morning the two friends said their farewells. Soon after they had parted the country mouse
decided to visit his friend in the city, and so he began his journey. After a long journey he arrived in the
city. The country mouse arrived at his friend's house according to his friends directions. The city mouse
was living in an apartment. The country mouse was shocked when he saw where his friend was living.
Country mouse : “This who trust is yours?”
City mouse : “Not exactly, I’m sharing the house with the landlords.”
Country mouse : “I’m very hungry show me that amazing feast you were talking about.”
The city mouse entered the kitchen, opened the fridge door then took
cheese meat and a variety of vegetables and fruit. He put them on the table and as they began to eat
they heard a cat meowing “MEOOWWW”. The city mouse jumped to say
City mouse : “Oh no the cat of the house heard us talking we must hide follow me.”
Both mice entered a hole in the wall and got away out of breath the country mouse asked
Country mouse : “You live in the same house with a cat? Isn't this dangerous?
City mouse : “It sure is, but this is the price I have to pay if I want to live in luxury and wealth
[Music]
After a short while the cat left the kitchen and they came out of the hole and continued to eat. A while
later they heard the street door open and the city mouse panicked…
City mouse : “Come on hurry up and run, the landlord came. Run before she sees us.”
The mice ran back to the little hole and the country mouse out of breath asked once again
[Music]
Country mouse : “This time I don't know why we ran. The little landlord doesn't she know you live here?
City mouse : “Of course she doesn't.”
Country mouse : “People are very dangerous. How do you live in a house like this?”
City mouse : “Well it has its days of course but I’m very happy living this way. Look at this, I can eat
whatever I want whenever I want. It's safe to go come on let's continue eating.
The country mouse got out of the hole, but as soon as he got out he walked towards the door and began
to complain…
Country mouse : “No thank you mister, I have lost my appetite. This much fear is enough for me I’m
leaving.”
City mouse : “Where are you going?” asked the city mouse.
Country mouse : “I’m going back home. My house might not be rich, but I live in peace with my freedom
I’d rather live in peace and feel free than to live in fear all the time.”
And so the country mouse returned to his poor lifestyle and continued to live happily and he never
returned to the city ever again.
Moral value : it’s better to live simple as the way it is than to run all over all the luxuries of life in fear.
 TIKUS KOTA DAN MOUSE DESA

Suatu hari seekor tikus yang tinggal di kota pergi mengunjungi temannya. Temannya telah meninggalkan
kota beberapa waktu lalu dan mulai tinggal di pedesaan.
Setelah perjalanan panjangnya, tikus kota akhirnya tiba di sebelah temannya di desa. Tikus kota berkata…
Tikus kota : "Tempat ini bau sekali, bagaimana kamu tinggal di tempat seperti itu?"
Setelah berjalan jauh dan melelahkan akhirnya tikus kota sampai di ladang temannya. Tikus desa telah
membuat rumah di bawah tanah, di sinilah dia tinggal.
Tikus kota : "Bagaimana teman saya hidup di lingkungan yang buruk, saya masih tidak mengerti."
Tikus kota mengetuk pintu. Tikus desa membuka pintu, dia sangat terkejut dan pada saat yang sama dia
juga sangat senang melihat temannya.
Tikus desa : “Selamat datang temanku, apa yang membawamu ke sisi kota ini?”
Tikus kota : “Aku bosan dengan kehidupan kota. Maksudku datang untuk melihatmu dan caramu
hidup selama beberapa waktu sekarang, tetapi aku dapat melihat bahwa kamu tidak begitu bahagia.
Tikus desa : “Kata siapa? Mengapa kamu tidak masuk ke dalam? Aku akan menyiapkan sesuatu
untuk dimakan.”
Mereka berdua masuk ke dalam rumah tikus desa. Tikus kota kagum melihat bagian dalam rumahnya
karena tikus desa tinggal di lubang kecil yang gelap dan pengap.
Tikus kota : "Rumahmu yang gelap dan mungil, bagaimana kamu tinggal di sini?" tanya tikus kota.
Tikus desa telah menyiapkan sesuatu untuk temannya untuk dimakan di atas meja adalah sepotong
wortel, selada keju dan biji jagung
Tikus desa : “Ayo temanku, nikmati makan malam ini.”
Tikus kota melihat semua yang ada di atas meja dan berkata ...
Tikus kota : “kau menyebut ini pesta, kembali ke tempat kami tinggal tikus tidak akan berbalik dan
melihat kedua jenis makanan ini. Kami memiliki kue-kue kue berbagai keju dan daging.
Kau dapat menemukan apa pun yang kau inginkan di kota.
Setelah tikus kota selesai makan, mereka mulai berjalan di sekitar kampung halaman tikus desa. tikus
kota sama sekali tidak menyukai tempat tinggal tikus desa.
Tikus kota : “Tempat seperti ini sama sekali tidak sesuai dengan keinginanku, sangat kotor dan
membosankan. Kau harus mengunjungi tempat tinggalku suatu hari nanti. Aku harus
membawamu berkeliling kota. Kau harus melihatnya. Aku yakin kamu tidak akan kembali
ke sini.”
Keesokan paginya kedua sahabat itu mengucapkan selamat tinggal. Segera setelah mereka berpisah, tikus
desa memutuskan untuk mengunjungi temannya di kota, dan dia memulai perjalanannya. Setelah
perjalanan panjang dia tiba di kota. Tikus desa tiba di rumah temannya sesuai dengan arahan teman-
temannya. Tikus kota tinggal di sebuah apartemen. Tikus desa terkejut ketika dia melihat di mana
temannya tinggal.
Tikus desa : "Siapa yang percaya ini milikmu?"
Tikus kota : "Tidak juga, saya berbagi rumah dengan tuan tanah."
Tikus desa : "Aku sangat lapar, tunjukkan pesta luar biasa yang kau bicarakan."
Tikus kota masuk ke dapur, membuka pintu kulkas lalu mengambil daging keju dan berbagai sayuran dan
buah-buahan. Dia meletakkannya di atas meja dan ketika mereka mulai makan, mereka mendengar
seekor kucing mengeong “MEOOWWW”. Tikus kota melompat sambil berkata…
Tikus kota : "Oh tidak, kucing rumah mendengar kita berbicara, kita harus bersembunyi, ikuti aku."
Kedua tikus itu masuk ke lubang di dinding dan kehabisan napas, tanya tikus desa
Tikus desa : “Kamu tinggal di rumah yang sama dengan kucing? Bukankah ini berbahaya?
Tikus kota : “Tentu saja, tetapi ini adalah harga yang harus saya bayar jika saya ingin hidup dalam
kemewahan dan kekayaan.
[Musik]
Setelah beberapa saat kucing meninggalkan dapur dan mereka keluar dari lubang dan terus makan.
Beberapa saat kemudian mereka mendengar pintu jalan terbuka dan tikus kota panik sambal berkata…
Tikus kota : “Ayo cepat lari, tuan rumah datang. Lari sebelum dia melihat kita.”
Tikus-tikus itu berlari kembali ke lubang kecil dan tikus desa yang kehabisan nafas bertanya sekali lagi
[Musik]
Tikus desa : “Kali ini aku tidak tahu kenapa kita lari. Tidakkah tuan rumah tahu kamu tinggal di sini?
Tikus kota : “Tentu saja tidak.”
Tikus desa : “Orang-orang sangat berbahaya. Bagaimana kamu tinggal di rumah seperti ini?”
Tikus kota : “Tentu saja ada hari-harinya, tetapi saya sangat senang hidup dengan cara ini, lihat ini,
aku bisa makan apa pun yang aku inginkan kapan pun aku mau. Aman untuk pergi ayo
kita lanjutkan makannya.
Tikus desa keluar dari lubang, tetapi begitu dia keluar, dia berjalan menuju pintu dan mulai mengeluh…
Tikus desa : “Tidak, terima kasih tuan, aku kehilangan nafsu makan. Ketakutan sebesar ini sudah
cukup bagiku, aku akan pergi.”
Tikus kota : “Mau ke mana?” tanya tikus kota.
Tikus desa : “Aku akan pulang. Rumahku mungkin tidak kaya, tetapi aku hidup dalam damai dengan
kebebasan. Aku lebih suka hidup dalam damai dan merasa bebas daripada hidup dalam
ketakutan sepanjang waktu.”
Maka tikus desa kembali ke gaya hidupnya yang buruk dan terus hidup bahagia dan dia tidak pernah
kembali ke kota lagi.
Nilai moral: lebih baik hidup sederhana apa adanya daripada menjalankan semua kemewahan hidup
dalam ketakutan.
