1. Purpose:
LOYAL BUILDING CONTRACTING L.L.C.

Purpose of this document is to develop and provide safe method for removing
and installation of roof sheet.

This method of erection of roof sheet complies in all the aspects with DM code
of construction safety practice and JAFZA HSE Regulations.

2. Objective:
This method defines health, safety & Environment approach for
installation of roof sheet.

3. Responsibilities:
Engineer / Supervisor shall;
 Be responsible for safe execution and quality of the work.
 Monitor the site activities and ensure the job
is progressing according to the project schedule and
specifications.
4. EQUIPMENT & MANPOWER:

A list of equipment and manpower is given below.

4.1EQUIPMENT:

 Scissor lift
 Hand tools
 Safety Belt with double Lanyard

5. SCOPE OF WORK

The scope work involved in replacing the existing roof sheet from the
warehouse building is as follows.

 Isolation of the area.


 Obtaining modification permit and COC from JAFZA EHS department.
 Tool box talk training must be given to the worker who is involved in the
work.
 Job specific instruction must be given by erection supervisor.
 Offloading the roof sheet.
 Providing roof access for the erection team.
 Removing of the existing roof sheet and replacing it with the new one,
this will be done one by one method ie ( removing one existing roof
sheet and it will be immediately replaced with the new one)
 All site rubbish and material debris will be under strict control. At the
end of each shift, or more frequently if necessary, all waste materials
generated will be disposed.

6. PRIOR TO START WORK.

 PPE must be worn at all times.


 First provide adequate edge protection.
 Place the Edge Protection M/s post on all the Eave columns and the end
wall columns along the top most wall purlin.
 The edge protection post should be linked with steel rope of 10 mm. That
means a 10mm steel rope will run along the perimeter of the warehouse.
 Fix the reflective safety mesh along the edge protection post, along the
perimeter of the warehouse.
 Safety net should be provided to prevent any fall hazard. At any moment,
ensure that the safety net is in position where the roof is being fixed.

 The erection operation of roof sheet& dismantling of damaged sheet will


starts with a request for a permit to work.
 The scissor lift will be used for removing the sheet from the roof.
 The third party certificate and the operator card will be submitted to the
safety officer for approval.
  All equipment shall be inspected, and all personnel shall be inducted and
trained before they commence work on site.
 Since the work is to be carried out in an area where the site operations is
also carried out simultaneously, In order to manage this situation our
erection supervisor will give the details of the daily work activity and its
location to the operational in charge, After getting clearance from the
operation team the area will the barricaded and the activity will be started
this will be done on daily basis.

7. DISMANTLING AND INSTALLATION OF DAMAGED ROOF


MATERIAL:

7.1 Prepare for work:

 Drawings and specifications are obtained from site inspection.


 Safety requirements associated with selecting and installing roof sheeting
and wall cladding, and workplace environmental requirements, are
adhered to throughout the work.
 Tools and equipment, including personal protective equipment, are
selected and checked for serviceability.
 Work area is prepared to support efficient selection and installation of
roof sheeting and wall cladding.

7.2 Roof Sheeting Plan

 Check for DCL conformity stamp on the sheets, Loose Insulation. If the
Stamp is not available, then immediately inform Site Engineer.
 Removing of the existing roof sheet and replacing it with the new one,
this will be done one by one method ie ( removing one existing roof
sheet and it will be immediately replaced with the new one).

 Inner Ridge liner should be fixed prior to fixing Roof sheet.


 Sheet should be laid as per the construction drawing.
 Lay the sheets line by line, up to the ridge.
 One strip of roof sealant should be applied for side lap and 2 strip of
sealant tape should be applied for end lap.
 Screw should be fixed at all crowns along the end lap and along the side
lap, at every alternate purlin. Appropriate screw should be used as shown
in the construction drawing.
 Do not lay Skylight sheet at the initial stage, instead lay composite panel
in place of skylight light sheet for safety purpose. In such places do not
use Sealant tape at the Side lap.
 Extra care must be taken while fixing skylight sheet. These sheets are
fragile and should not be stepped on. Once a skylight is fixed, warning
tape should be screwed in a Cross design over the skylight to highlight
the location/presence of the Skylight.
 Mark the Line on which Skylight sheets are to be fixed. Remove the
Existing Composite panel and fix the skylight sheet along the line. The
removed composite panel should be shifted to the pending open area at
that moment itself, making the skylight area clear of any obstruction.
 Fix all the skylights.
 Check out for some missing Screws and any damage to be rectified.

8. Clean up.

 Work area is cleared and materials disposed of, reused or recycled


according to legislation, regulations, codes of practice and job
specification.
 Tools and equipment are cleaned, checked, maintained and stored in
accordance with manufacturer recommendations and workplace
procedures.
 Documentation is completed in accordance with workplace requirements.
