1.0 INTRODUCTION
The method statement is used by Impact to detail how particular processes are to be performed where the absence of
the method statement would adversely affect the accomplishment of the process and quality of the product.

The method statement shall detail the activities to be performed in accomplishing certain process, the sequence of
such activities, the responsibility and authority of employees toward each activity and the quality control to be
implemented. The establishment of the method statement is based primarily with the requirements of the
specifications.
The method statement included therewith are for the system related process, the installation of the products that will
supplement the company’s procedures by giving detailed information on the activity and its sequence.

 The Senior Project Manager and the Project Manager to ensure effective implementation of the Method
Statement.
 The Project Manager shall ensure adequate resources are available for the execution of the works.
 The Project Engineer shall coordinate the activities and provide technical support to the installation.
 The QA Manager/Inspector shall coordinate inspections with Main contractor / IMF

 The Foreman and Supervisors are responsible for the control and implementation of the Method Statement

including Safety procedures.
 The Surveyors and the installation Technicians are to follow the Method Statement related to their
respective activities and adhere to all safety procedures.
 Foreman in coordination with the Site Engineer shall decide the requirements of access and provision of
power supply.

6.0 PRE-INSTALLATION REQUIREMENTS
The project management team of Main contractor has to ensure that the following pre-installation requirements are
satisfied prior to start the installation of its product:
 Technical submittal such as drawings, materials and Quality/ Safety Plan, etc. have obtained Engineer’s
approval.
 Method Statement, Inspection and Test Plans and Risk Assessments are approved by the Engineer.

 Identify, quantify and ensure that risks are managed in this Method Statement and residual risks are acceptable.
 Method Statement and Risk Assessments have been discussed and made clear to everyone concerned.
 Adequate manpower and supervisory staffs are available for the implementation of the method statement and
execution of the works.
 Written ‘Notice of Clearance’ was issued by the Main Contractor to IMF to proceed with installation activities.
 The structures on which the mechanical supports of the products will be fixed are completed and verified in
accordance with the approved drawings.
 The temporary sources of power supply are adequate and readily available at close premises to the place of
application.
 Adequate lighting and proper access and egress with signs wherever necessary.

 Arrangement for proper movement of equipments and manpower were available.

 Free spaces for storage and handling areas of the materials are identified and adequate.
 Safety checklist is available for the assessment of the risk involved in the work and control measures to be put in
place for the identified hazards.
 Trainings for the use of the equipments, tools and scaffolding handling of materials are conducted to the
operatives.
 All safety requirements and regulation are made clear with all the operatives.
 Permit to work shall be obtained from Main contractor prior to commencing of the ACP panels installation.

7.1 Sequence of Work
The work shall be planned in detail to comply with the construction program and the specification
requirements.
In general Glass Installation Work the procedure is as follows:
 Setting of Scaffolding up to the desired height

 Organizing the Crane Facility for loading and unloading of Aluminium Profiles, Glass and ACP
Panels.

 Transportation of the Site Location.

 Installation of Substructures and Aluminium Frames
 Loading of double glazed glass to location openings through scaffolding through glass clips.
 Installation of Double Glazed Panels and ACP Cladding.
 Fixing proper gaskets in existing frame to fix new glass panels
 Fixing of Silicone Sealant, with back up rod.
 Removing of Debris from Site Premises.
 Silicone Filling and Cleaning
 Rectification work as inspected
 Removing of Scaffold System

7.2 Preparation
Following are the preparation needed prior to start the installation of Aluminium Works
 All other activities and works by other trades on the areas that will be affected by the installation
of the Aluminium Windows, Doors and ACP shall be completed checked and approved by the
Engineer. These activities shall be arranged by the Main Contractor, while /IMF to ensure
coordination before proceeding with works.

 Complete the general survey of the areas for the Installation. The project Engineer and the
Surveyor shall conduct activities.
Information to be confirmed and generated from the general survey shall include but not limited
to the following:
- Establish and confirm the datum/ reference points and the bench marks of levels gridlines to
be followed for setting out of Fixing of Frames and ACP from the references provided by
Main Contractor’s surveyor.

- Verify the tolerances for installation on the existing structure.
- Verify the stability of the structure to which the supports shall be fixed.
 Reports from the general survey shall be copied to the Main Contractor for information

 Ensure work area is clean from objects and scaffold is checked (Scaff-Tag installed)
 Fixing Aluminium Frames
o Ensure the Frames are Scratch Free.
 Transport the glass panels to the Window location safely.

 Proper glass clips will be provided for lifting of glass with enough man power.
 Glass panels will be shifted to opening location through scaffolding.
 Installation of window glass panels
 Glasses will be holded with glass clips properly until fixed with screws.
o Use proper silicone to fix the Glass panels

o Prior to sealing, all areas shall be free from dust and thoroughly dry.
 Identify any snagging works and provide remedial works where applicable
 Remove all Protection tapes and clean the glass panels properly
 Request for Engineer’s inspection and approval (WIR).
 Rectification works as required.
 Final Cleaning prior to final handover and sign-off. (Re-Raise WIR)

 Ensure work area is clean from objects and scaffold is checked (Scaff-Tag installed)
 Fixing Aluminium Runners - 40x40x2 mm with Anchor Bolts (GI)
 Transport the ACP Panels to site location after fabrication.
 Installation of ACP
o Use proper silicone to fix the ACP Panels
o Removing of Protection tape and Cleaning Dust.
 Identify any snagging works and provide remedial works where applicable
 Remove all Protection tapes and clean the glass panels properly
 Request for Engineer’s inspection and approval (WIR).
 Rectification works as required.

 Final Cleaning prior to final handover and sign-off. (Re-Raise WIR)
8.0 SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
 The evaluation and risk assessment for the activities mentioned in the method statements shall be under taken
by IMF and shall be introduced to the operative prior to the execution of activities

 The safety requirements and regulations established for the project shall be fully observed by IMF operatives
through the control and monitoring of Main Contractor Safety Department.
 Safety Officers shall be delegated permanently on the project for the effective implementation of the safety
policies and regulations.
 All labour and supervision team must complete Main contractor safety induction
 Permit to work must be obtained prior to gaining access to the site to fix the Aluminium Works
