Construction
All joints must be properly designed and dimensioned by the specifier and the main
contractor in accordance with the relevant standards, because changes are not
usually feasible after Construction. The basis for calculation of the necessary joint
width are the technical values of the joint sealant and the adjacent building
materials as well as the exposure of the building, its method of Construction and its
dimensions.
Approximate consumption
Joint width [mm] 10 15 20 25 30

joint. Fill the joint, avoiding air entrapment. Sikaflex Construction must be tooled
firmly against joint sides to ensure good adhesion.
Masking tape must be used where sharp exact joint lines or exceptionally neat lines
are required. Remove the tape whilst the sealant is still soft. Sleek joint with
smoothing liquid for a perfect sealant surface.

Do not use Sikaflex Construction as a glass sealer, on bituminous substrates,
natural rubber, EPDM rubber or on building materials which might bleed oils,
plastisicers or solvents which could attack the sealant.
®
Do not use Sikaflex Construction to seal swimming pools.
Not suitable for joints with water pressure or permanent water immersion.
The freshly applied sealant has a smell similar to 'Amaretto' until it has fully cured
(benzalehyde).
®
Do not mix with or expose uncured Sikaflex Construction to substances that
may react with isocyanates, especially alcohols which are often components

METHOD STATEMENT
THE PRODUCT:
Fleximent 201 is a two component cementitious flexible membrane. The product consists of
powder and liquid. The product is a brush application.
THE APPLICATION:
All plumbing must be completed and pressure tested (if necessary) prior to commencement of
the waterproofing. All voids created for installation of pipes, fitting etc must be filled and
1 completed
The cement mortars debris on the surface must be removed by main contractor. The surface is
then inspected to ascertain if there is foreign objects/honey combing in the surface. These areas
will be hacked and patched prior to waterproofing application by the main contractor.
For vertical brick/ block work, it must be plastered semi rough thin plaster, to a height of
300mm-1000mm from the finished floor level and 2100 mm high of shower area .Lay the fillet
minimum of 25mm X 25mm of cement sand is placed at the intersection of the vertical and the
2 horizontal.
The surface is then thoroughly cleaned. Once the surface preparation is completed, the surface
is wetted prior to application of the waterproofing. This is to promote capillary action of
product into substrate.
The two components that constitute the Fleximent 201 product are mixed to ensure proper
dispersion of the components. The first coat applied on the concrete substrate. On completion
of the first coat, allow for cure 4-3 hours then will undertake the second coat application over
the first coat. Edger’s will reinforce with polyester mat and will apply 3rd coat over the 2nd
coat at edger’s.
In areas where pipes/penetrations exists, the membrane will be extended either along the
surface of the pipe, if the pipe protrudes from the concrete surface or into the pipe if the pipe
is flushed with the concrete surface.
Allow product to cure minimum of 24 hours. The structure is then pond tested.( Minimum of
24 hr)
On pond test if there are no any defects is found. Then water will be removed and lay the
protection screed or tile bed.
1. Any uneven areas, defected areas and chiseled patches to be treated with an approved
epoxy resin based un-pigmented primer and to be leveled with a homogeneously mixed
approved 2-component epoxy mortar.
2. The detail at intersections shall be provided with sketches.
22nd March 2022
METHOD STATEMENT
2. If any mortar, debris and foreign matter are present on this screed, they are to be
removed. Refer comment 4
below
3. A cement sand fillet minimum of 25mm X 25 mm to be laid at the intersection point
of any vertical and horizontal section such as the wall – slab edge, etc

it to get cure. It act as the key coat for the torch membrane. Refer comment 5
below
5. Torch membrane in now torch laid over the prime surface (floor and vertical walls)
6. Each sheet is lapped to the next sheet – both at side laps and end laps. Minimum laps
to be 75mm.
7. The torch membrane laying on the horizontal is continued on the vertical sections and
terminated on the vertical walls as per the height of 450mm above from finishing floor
level.
Refer comments
8. Then Structure will fill with water and pond tested for minimum of 48 hours.
7,8,9 below
9. Then water will removed and will lay the 50mm thick Rigifoam over the
waterproofing membrane and follow with separation layer (1000g polythene) and will
be protected with a chip concrete. On chip concrete will form expansion joints at every
4m intervals. Groove width should be minimum of 10mm
10. Vertical termination will terminated with aluminium strip fix with using concrete nails
300 mm intervals.
12. Allow chip concrete to get cure for minimum of 14 days. Refer comment 10
below
13. Expansion joint will be seal with PS sealant. And allow cure for 3days
1. Prior to laying the leveling screed, the concrete surface shall be well cleaned to
remove any loose materials, dust and contaminants, and the concrete slab shall be
grouted with cement/water slurry before laying the leveling screed.
2. The 1:3 (cement: sand) leveling screed shall be laid with minimum thickness of
25mm and the slope shall be not less than 1:200 or as shown on drawings finished with
a wooden float.
3. The leveling screed shall be kept damp for 5 days and waterproofing membrane shall
be applied after fully drying of the surface.
