1.0 INTRODUCTION
This is regarding defects mentioned in Technical meeting minutes under B1.25-T.11 as “Expansion
joints are to be provided for roof terrace level floor – work carried out without submitting and
obtaining approval for shop drawing and using of glass strips at expansion joints which is not a
suitable material for outdoor areas. Crack were visible on the cement rendered areas. Contractor to
redo the cement rendering and finish neatly”

This document outlines the work methods for the safe and proper execution of above defect
rectification work on the project.

2.0 SCOPE OF WORK

We are going to lay some tiles over the defected cement rendered area using off cut tiles in the
projects. This method statement gives a step by step procedure for rectification

5.0 FLOOR RECTIFICATION PROCESS

 Remove hollow places of cement rendering and redo it properly by using cement slurry as
bonding agent.
 Remove already placed glass strips in floor and replace it with 10mm thick regiform sheet
strips to maintain expansion joint between cement rendered floor and finish joint neatly
by filling any gaps with cement mortar/grout.
 Properly clean the cement rendered floor to receive floor tiles.
 Use already approved tile adhesive for external area which is Tokyo Super Bond High
Performance tile adhesive or Swisstek Super Plus tile adhesive for tiling. (These tile
adhesives were approved by MAT 89 & MAT 90 for external usage)
 Use 100x300mm offcut tiles as tile material for this work.
 Use attached tile prosed tile drawing for tiling.
 Start tiling using attached drawing with above mentioned tile adhesive.
 Keep 6mm grove for expansion joints as shown in drawing.
 After complete tiling, fill the expansion joints (6mmx6mm) with PS Sealant (Grey colour)
material. Use backer rod below the sealant material to avoid three side adhesion of
sealant.
 TDS sheet for proposed PS sealant is attached herewith.

6.0 QUALITY CONTROL PLAN / INSPECTION

For the purpose of quality controlling, the inspection will be done at the site to maintain the quality
of the construction work at site. In which all the criteria’s will be addressed and checked, so that the
construction work will have the same quality throughout the project. Once the Contractors’
Engineer and the QA/QC Engineer carried out the inspection, Engineers’ representative Resident
Engineer will carry out his inspection along with the Contractors’ QA/QC Engineer and make the
final approval to proceed the work.

7.0 SAFETY AND RISK ASSESSMENT

 All dangerous areas must be barricaded.

 Proper and safe access should be provided for inspection.
 All the electrical wires and sockets are placed in such a way that it will be covered so that
it will conform to safety regulations.
 Personal protective equipment must be worn through-out the work.
 Safety belts must be worn, if the working height is more than 3m.
 First aid facilities and vehicles for emergency cases shall be available at site.
 Refer the Sanken Safety Manual for other safety precaution and regulations.
