1.0 PURPOSE

The purpose of this procedure is to follow proper activities during Erection of Cable Tray for Tank form area
and Pipe sleeper, Rotary and Static Equipment as per specification codes and drawings for Project Product
Tanks Package of Acrylic/Oxo Alcohol– IOCL- Dumad – Vadodara -Gujarat

2.0 SCOPE
The scope covers the technical requirements for the materials and construction of Cable tray work or
accordance with PMC specifications and corresponding approved drawings:

3.0 REFERENCES
PMC specification Power Drawing No. 44AC-9100-0000/E.01/0012 for prefabricated cable tray requirement.
Indian standard IS: 1363, IS: 1367(part-13), IS: 2629, IS: 5986
4.0 RESPONSIBILITY
Following are the responsibilities and reporting structure of personnel involved in execution of this job:-
RCM: Shall be responsible for overall activities going on under Product Tanks Package of
Acrylic/OxoAlcohol – IOCL- Dumad Site
Site Engineers: Shall report to the Lead Engineer/ RCM. Shall be responsiblefor site works,
progress as per planning and day to day site activities.
QA/QC Engineers: Shall be responsible to implement quality plan and to carry out the Relevant to test.
Safety Officer: Shall report to the project Manager Shall be responsible for all HSE Related
activities.
5.0 DRAWINGS AND INFORMATION
M/s TEL shall provide technical drawing as applicable:
i. Bill of materials
ii. GA drawings.
6.0 CABLE TRAYS AND ACCESSORIES
Refer Miscellaneous Details - Power Drawing No. 44AC-9100-0000/E.01/0012 for prefabricated cable tray requirement.
All the materials shall be designed, manufactured and tested in accordance with the latest applicable Indian standard
IS:1363, IS:1367(part-13), IS:2629, IS:5986 except where modified and /or supplemented..
All cable trays and accessories shall be Pre- fabricated. For tray system design, in addition to self-load and 75kg
concentrated load at centre span, the following guidelines for tray loading shall be considered.
Support Span Max. 2500 mm for Horizontal trays & 1500 mm for Vertical trays

Z clamp (Hot Dip GI strip) shall be 25 x 3 mm thick. Suitable holes shall be provided for clamping. Clamp shall be
supplied with SS-304, M-8 Ø nut and bolts with 2 flat and 1spring washer. The side runner shall be as indicated in the
miscellaneous drawing.
The rungs shall be welded to the side runner. The side runners shall also have suitable holes at every meter for cleating
earthing strip, suitable threaded holes shall be provided on the runner top and bottom for supporting and fixing tray covers
with screws at every meter. The standard cable tray length shall be 3Mtr. All the surfaces shall be free from defects such
as burrs, sharp edges, etc.
Bends, Tees, Reducers, Crosses, and Droppers etc. shall have the required bending radius to meet the application
requirement with 10% allowance for various cable sizes with a minimum of 300 mm.
The cable tray shall be completely assembled, adjusted and erected at site as per the relevant standards. The Cable Trays
shall be hot dip galvanized as per IS-2629 and zinc coated with minimum 65 microns.
7.0 HEALTH, SAFETY & ENVIRONMENT
Approved procedure for health, safety & environment plan will be followed.
To comply with PMC’s owner’s & ISO-Standards requirement the following precaution and measures will
be taken care of:
All employees working within the battery limit were personal protective equipment.
All employees will confirm & follow company’s health & safety policy environment policy HSE Plan and
also owner’s /PMC’s environment policy and plan.
8.0 INSPECTION
Once the cable tray supports erection and tray laying are completed the following points to be checked
1. Cable tray must be in straight line and shall follow the route as per drawing.
2. Wherever Tees and Bends are required other than the prefabricated bends / Tees same shall be properly fabricated
and welded. The welding parts to be cleaned and painted with cold galvanizing paint after removing the slag and
smoothening of surface.
3. After completing all the erection work tray straightened and alignment and shall be supported / Fixed by welding or
Z Clamps.
4. Cable Tray support shall be carried out by qualified welder.
5. Welding portion shall be cleaned and avoid slag and welder portion shall be painted as per specification.

Quality assurance and quality control for Cable Tray work will be as per quality plan and corresponding
inspection and test plan .All records/formats as appended to this procedure will be maintained for all major
activities. PMC approved QAP/IPT shall be followed.

Note: In case of any conflict between this procedure and PMC Specifications the later will govern.
