MODULE 1: CITIZENSHIP TRAINING (WEEK 3)

A. DEFINITION OF TERMS
The idea of Citizenship Training is

understanding of how the country
in which they live is governed and
run as well as how democracy
works. Other elements included in
Citizenship Training include: Law
and Order.

B. TRAINING: the action of teaching a person or

animal a particular skill or type of behavior: “in-

C. IMPORTANCE OF CITIZENSHIP
Citizenship education gives people the knowledge
and skills to understand, challenge and engage with
democratic society including politics, the media,
civil society, the economy and the law. Democracies
need active, informed and responsible citizens -

responsibility for themselves and their communities
and contribute to the political process.
