1. Choose only one of etiquettes and discuss its importance while playing badminton.

DO NOT TALK.

When hitting the shuttlecock, players on the court who shout or grunt can acquire an
unfair advantage. Their yells can disrupt their opponent's game by either disguising or
distracting the sound of the shuttlecock being hit by the racquet. Shouting during a game is
bad form and irritates everyone. Fair play entails more than just adhering to the rules. Bad
sportsmanship is not required of good players, and no one should expect it to 'simply be
part of the game’.

If we want to encourage more participation in badminton, we have to promote good

codes of conduct at the tournament level. These codes need to be flexible enough to allow
players to legitimately express their fighting spirit yet should curtail excessive behavior.
Tournament administrators can improve participation in the badminton community by
creating fair environments. Unsportsmanlike behavior like this brings the sport into
disrepute.

2. In which etiquette of the game that caught your interest in playing badminton, and why?

Be Friendly Etiquette really caught my interest in playing badminton because even when
passing back the shuttlecock to the opponent has a proper way to do it. If you don’t do
these things, you could be seen as rude and impolite.

The etiquette says that if the shuttlecock lands on your side of the net, it is your
responsibility to return it to the server. You should pick up the shuttlecock on your racket or
in your hand and pass it to the server in a friendly way. It's best not to pick it up with your
racket's head, as this can damage it. You should not hit it or push it under the net – this is
seen as impolite and it also ruins the feathers. In some instances, you can return the shuttle
to your opponent's side of the court with a light underhanded stroke. Based on your
distance from the net and how the other players have returned the shuttle, use your best
judgment. But it is not OK to hit or swipe it across under the net.
