Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez is a wonderful rock musician and person. He

is 50 years old, he was born on August 9th, 1972, in Carolina del Principe,
Antioquia Colombia. He is the youngest child of Alicia Vásquez and Javier
Aristizábal. His father called him “Juanes”, short for “Juan Esteban” which he
Paragraph 1 later used as a nickname. When he was seven years old, Juanes learned to play
the acoustic guitar from his father and older brothers. He played traditional
Latin styles such as bolero, tango, cumbia, vallenato and guasca. During the
1980s and 1990s, Juanes was a member of the heavy metal band Ekhymosis.
Later, in 1998 he continued his career as a soloist. Juanes is a versatile and

Juanes has been recognized all over the world for different achievements. He is
known as one of the best-selling Colombian musicians, having sold more than
ten million albums. Also, he has won 13 Latin Grammys along his career.
Additionally, he has travelled all around the world singing La camisa Negra.
