KUDARAT STATE UNIVIRSITY-ACCESS

Statement of the Problem

This study aimed to determine the level of awareness and implementation of Safe

Spaces Act in Sultan Kudarat State University – ACCESS.

Specifically, it sought to answer the following questions.

1. To what extent is the implementation of Sultan Kudarat State University – ACCESS

on Safe Spaces Act in terms of:

1.1. Gender Based Streets and Public Spaces Sexual Harassment;

1.2. Gender Based Online Sexual Harassment;

1.3. Gender Based Sexual Harassment in the Workplace; and

1.4. Gender Based Sexual Harassment in Educational and Training Institutions?

2. To what extent is the awareness of Safe Spaces Act in Sultan Kudarat State

University – ACCESS in terms of:

2.1. Gender Based Streets and Public Spaces Sexual Harassment;

2.2. Gender Based Online Sexual Harassment;

2.3. Gender Based Sexual Harassment in the Workplace; and

2.4. Gender Based Sexual Harassment in Educational and Training Institutions?

Significance of the Study

The result of the study was significant as an eye opener to the public especially to

those who are a victim of sexual harassment and catcalling and also to those persons

who are committing such act of violence.


To the Community, this study will provide significant information in identifying the

factors perceived by the respondents causing sexual harassment in public spaces. By

this, the community could identify the factors that caused sexual harassment which can

contribute to recognize the strategies in terms of implementation and awareness

campaign. Thus, also, this study will be the basis for improvement in order for the

concerned agencies to provide well established strategies to lessen sexual harassment

in public spaces.

To the Students, this study will serve as awareness and educate the students on

the law imposed. With this, it can spread the responsiveness about the growing problems

occurring in public spaces pertaining to sexual harassment, some people has an attitude

of being pervert and not abiding the law. Thus, it will encourage the students to be alert

while on public spaces knowing the consequences when they are involved.

Significance of the Study


The results of the study will be of great benefit to the following:
College of Nursing Dean. Data given will provide the dean with information on
how the number of duty hours in a week affects the student’s academic and RLE
performance. The results will enable the dean to improve the scheduling of RLE
and different academic subjects. Data gathered will help the dean initiate
collaboration among faculty and chairpersons to help plan the advancement of
nursing education in relation to the new curriculum.
Clinical Instructors. The results of the study will help the clinical instructors
evaluate the quality of care rendered by the nursing students, academic
performance, attitude and skills acquired in relation to the number of hours given in
a week. Results would also develop the clinical instructor’s teaching-learning and
evaluating strategies in enhancing knowledge, skills and attitude to the students in
the time frame given.
Students. This study will provide information regarding which time arrangement is
effective: 8-hr of clinical internship from the 5-hr clinical internship with additional
academic classes. This study will evaluate the academic performance, the student
nurse’s attitude and approach, the skills learned in the clinical area and the quality
of care rendered in the given time frame. Data gathered will also help the students
improve both academic and clinical performance.
