Professional Development: Task 1 – Identifying

job roles in your chosen creative media industry

As an Esports student it is essential you are aware of the wide variety of jobs you may be
able to do within this industry. This first task is about you demonstrating exploration of
some of the roles which are found within Esports, writing a little about your understanding
of what they mean and why they interest you.

You are required to pick the FIVE career/roles you are most interested in from the link
provided at the bottom of this document. For EACH ONE write an explanation IN YOUR
OWN WORDS of what you think this role is and why you have chosen it. Be clear and
specific in your answers, showing off your knowledge and enthusiasm; vague answers such
as “this looks interesting” will not be accepted.

a content creator is someone who makes and uploads entertainment to websites such a twitch or YouTube and
normally the content is condensed to a certain game or topic rather than a massive broad audience. Like the pro gamer I
would like to be a content creator because I’ve been playing games since I was young, and if it was possible to make the
games I play in to content for people to watch or laugh would be perfect thing for me. A determined kind person is
needed to be a content creator as u almost always have to be making new content just by talking or playing games and
in some cases this can be a struggle as u might not be up for it some days but u have to power through.

a caster/host is someone who commentates/presents a live event there can be 2 types of casters an informational typed
caster and some sort of a in the moment commentating on what’s happening. I think I would like to do this as it looks
like it could be fun and the chance, I get to speak in front of thousands of people commentating on some of my favourite
players would be a real opportunity. For this job u are going to need viable knowledge on the teams in the competition
and not only knowledge of the players the game to. Some barriers that you could face while in this line of work could be
a lack of confidence if you have a lack of confidence this job might not be the best for you, but it doesn’t mean u can’t do
it. it means u must slowly build up ur confidence with smaller jobs and work ur way up.
