In this paper we have compiled contains Part Of Speech. We say many
thanks to those who have helped us in the preparation of this paper, both
friends, lecturers and all those who have helped which we cannot mention one
by one.
We really hope that this paper can be of good value, and can be used as
well as possible, we realize that the paper we have compiled is not perfect for

PENDAHULUAN

A. Background
A sentence is formed by several words. Words are the most basic parts that
have their respective meanings, functions, and habits in a sentence. In English, each
word is grouped into 8 (eight) kinds of parts of speech (Safira, 2016).
The parts of speech explain how word is used in a sentence. There are eight
main parts of speech (also known as word classes): nouns, pronouns. adjectives,
verbs, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions and interjections. Most part of speech can
be devided into subclasses. Prepositions can be devided into prepositions of time,
prepositions of place etc. Nouns can be devided into proper nouns, common nouns,
concrete nouns ect (Anonim, 2019)
It is important to know that a word can sometimes be in more than one part
of speech For example with the word increase. Increase can be a verb eg. Prices
increased and increase can also be a noun eg. There was an increase in the number
of followers (Anonim, 2019).

PEMBAHASAN
Parts of speech are the basic parts of an English sentence, there are eight part of
speech, that is: noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, dan
interjection. "Parts of speech" are the basic types of words that English has Most grammar
books say that there are eight parts of speech: nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, pronouns,
conjunctions, prepositions and interjections. We will add one more type: articles.
It is important to be able to recognize and identify the different types of words in
English, so that you can understand grammar explanations and use the right word form in
the right place.
1. Noun
Part of Speech it is used to name people, things, animals, places, and abstract
concepts. A noun is a naming word. It names a person, place, thing, idea, living
creature, quality, or action.

Example words
(book, house, car, love, pen, dog, work, music, town, London, teacher,
john)
Example Sentence
a. Your book is on the table.
b. This is my dog
c. He lives in my house.
d. We live in London.
2. Pronoun
Pronoun used to replace noun. Part of speech this is useful to avoid
repetition of use noun. A pronoun is used instead of a noun, to avoid repeating
the noun.

(you, she, this, those, none. I, you, he, she, some)
Example Sentences
a. It is on the table.

c. She is beautiful

3. Verb
Part of speech it is used to show the action of the subject, indicate an event,
or state A verb is a word which describes an action (doing something) or a state
(being something).

(hit, touch, write, (to) be, have, do, like, work, sing, can, must)
Example Sentences
a. You hit the nail on the head

4. Adjective
Part of speech this is used to explain noun or pronoun, an adjective is a word
that describes a noun. It tells you something about the noun.

Function or job "Describes a noun"
Example Words
(a beautiful girl, the expensive car, a/an, the, 2, some, good, big, red, well,
interesting)
Example Sentences
a. Vina is a beautiful girl
b. I have two dogs
c. My dogs are big
d. I like big dogs.
5. Adverb
Part of speech this is used to explain verb, adjective, nor adverb lain. these
kinds of words include: adverb of time, manner, degree, modality, frequency,
place & direction, dan focus. An adverb is a word which usually describes a verb.
It tells you how something is done. It may also tell you when or where something
happened.

Function or job "describes a verb, adjective or adverb"
Example Words
(yesterday, quicky, very, maybe, always, there, just, quickly, silently, well,
badly, very, really)
Example Sentences
a. They met by chance yesterday.
b. My dog cats quickly
c. When he is very hungry, he eats really quickly.

6. Preposition
Part of speech this is combined with noun or pronoun, shape phrase (frasa)
which explains verb, noun, or adjective. A preposition usually comes before a
noun, pronoun or noun phrase. It joins the noun to some other part of the
sentence.

(in the classroom, on the floor, to, at, after, on, but)
Example Sentences
a. Is sleeping on the floor good for my back?
b. We went to school on Monday
c. My niece went to the park in the afternoon.
d. My student studies in library.
7. Conjuction
Part of speech it is used to connect two words, phrase (frasa), clause (klausa),
atau paragraph (paragraf). The word is divided into coordinate, correlative,
subordinate, dan adverbial conjunction. A conjunction joins two words, phrases
or sentences together.

Function or job "joins clauses or sentences or words"
Example Words
(but, both... and, although, however, and, but, when)
Example Sentences
a. I like that car, but I don't have enough money to buy it.
b. I like dogs and I like cats.
c. I like dogs but I don't like cats.
d. We invite him, but he doesn't come here.
8. Interjection
Interjection is a short speech used to express emotions. An interjection is an
unusual kind of word, because it often stands alone. Interjections are words
which express emotion or surprise, and they are usually followed by exclamation
marks.

Function or job "Short exclamation, sometimes inserted into a sentence"

(oh , ouch!, hi!, well)
Example Sentences
a. Ouch! That hurts
b. Hi! How are you?
c. Well, I don't know.
d. Oh! That is my bag

PENUTUP
A. Conclusion
1. There are several types of part of speech, namely, noun, pronoun, verb,
adjective, adverb, preposition, conjunction, and interjection. Where each type of
part of speech has a different meaning and function in using it.
2. Part of speech in English it means types of words or classes of words. It is called
part of speech because the parts of a sentence (remember, basically sentences in
language are sentences that are spoken, not written), because these words are a
system needed to form a sentence, regardless of what their respective duties or
functions are.

B. Suggestion
We should know a little or be able to master vocabullary first in English
before learning this Part of Speech. Because this Part of Speech Sub Chapter uses a
lot of words whose level of difficulty is quite difficult to understand. In addition, we
must practice continuously in using this part of speech sentence.
