REDUCING THE USE OF PLASTIC BOTTLES

Cluster 4 (Tartarabang, Puzol, and Salanap)

I. MESSAGE
Environmental Protection is concerned with those aspects of human behavior
which are more directly related to man’s interaction with bio-physical environment and
his ability to understand this interaction. The way he or she treat the environment
contributes to the destruction and disturbance of the nature.
One of the most glaring problems which the world faces today is the
environmental pollution specifically the plastic pollution. Man has exploited nature
excessively at the cost of the environment. There is an immediate need to make people
aware about environmental degradation. Education and public participation may change
and improve the quality of environment.

II. CONTENT
ISSUE
Many people use plastic bottles when they’re out and about, only to discard them
after one use. Plastic pollution has become one of the most pressing environmental
issues, as rapidly increasing production of disposable plastic products overwhelms the
world’s ability to deal with them. Plastic pollution is most visible in developing Asian and
African nations, where garbage collection systems are often inefficient or nonexistent.
According to National Geographic (2020), the plastic production increased
exponentially, from 2.3 million tons in 1950 to 448 million tons by 2015. Production is
expected to double by 2050.

OBJECTIVES
The advocacy aims to address the youth most especially the students 5 different
ways on how to protect and conserve the environment such as:
1. Environmental Awareness;
2. Knowledge or Education;
3. Attitude;
4. Livelihood; and
5. Discipline
PPAs
The best time to save the environment is now. Through the initiative of our
group, we had come up with a solution which is to at least reduce the use of
plastic bottles through the “May Module sa Basura Project”. Its primary goal is to
reduce the use of plastic bottles by offering Free Printing Services in exchange of
plastic bottles. 10 plastic bottles will entitle a student to print 20 pages of their
module. The plastic bottles which will be earned will be sold to our local junk
shops and be the rotating fund of the said project.

III. OUTPUT
The advocacy envisions:
• a plastic-free Pinili by 2023.
• help Pinileño students in their studies.
