Sending forth Ceremony: A Rite of Path for Graduates

The St. Peter’s College of Toril Inc., launched its first Sending Forth Ceremony
last February 24, 2022, which attended by the 1 st batch of interns coming from the Guild
of Education and Liberal Arts Students (GELAS) together with the Bachelor of Science
and Information Technology (BSIT) graduating candidates which was supervised by the
different program heads Dr. Cristy Q. Efondo and Dr. Marybeth B. Lauron. This year's
ceremony was held at the school Chapel which also follows safety protocols like
wearing face mask and 1-meter social distancing.
The pinning ceremony is a significant milestone of dedication to lifelong learning
and professionalism. It allows all graduating candidates to acknowledge the deep
commitment and to be expose in the field of experience that all courses have made to
all Colleges and Universities as well as their desire to serve the community as a whole.
During the ceremony, students received the newly minted pin and committed an oath.
Receiving the pin from the designated personnel signifies agreement with and
acceptance of the profession's conduct. Pinning ceremonies aren’t just for the students
and their loved ones—their instructors also relish in the accomplishments of their pupils.
“From all your instructors and staffs, it is by far the proudest moment to see you one
step closer on your dreams and to always keep the virtues and the image of being a
Petrean.” quoted by our Dean of College Dr. Katherine Rosales.
Pinning ceremony is just like a graduation rites students can invite their family
and friends to join them to celebrate that public event. However, due to pandemic we
need to follow safety protocols and that is to limit people who will be attending the said
ceremony. That moment of receiving the pin unlocked another momentous part of being
a student. We had to endure a lot of hurdles until we were lucky enough to experience
such event. I saw how grateful my co-interns as they are one step ahead to their
dreams.
That event outlines 3 important symbols: candle, oath and nameplate. This are
the things that made that event a significant one. Lighting of the candle is a
representation of the unity and illuminating passion of the profession. Oath is a formal
promise of being dedicated to the chosen vocation and declaration to an official
responsibility. Lastly, the nameplate gives a sense of importance and recognition and
acceptance of the profession itself.
Indeed, it was a great experienced for all of us, as we are about to be deploy in
the different fields of profession. We must never forget to have the humility and
dedication towards our careers in the future and always live according to God’s will.
Above all, enjoy what you do. Whatever the next path we are about to take, we should
always learn in every situation and try to make a difference. As this quote stated, “Wherever
life plants you, you must bloom with grace.” - Unknown
