MASTER

PRODUCTION
SCHEDULE (MPS)
The Master Production Schedule (MPS) consists of a higher-
level production schedule that is used to set the factory
production plan by deciding what, how much and by what date
is to be manufactured in the medium term.

THE PROCESS FOR PREPARING VACCINES
BY ACTIVITY IS AS FOLLOWS
The Production area (Fermentation) that has
1 a. Microbial Fermenters of 20 and 200 liter This Process Takes About 72 Hours
b. Bioreactors for cell culture of 50 and 200 liters

The Purification area has

2 a. Ultrafiltration membranes
This Process Takes About 48 Hours
b. Chromatography Columns of 2 and 30 Liter

The Filling and Packaging areas have

3 a. Fully automated filling up to 10,000 vials
This Process Takes About 46 Hours
b. Semi-automated filling up to 2,000 vials
c. Freeze drying up to 5,000 vials
d. Aseptic dry sprayer and filling powder

Total Time: 166 hours.

Taking the time factor into account is essential when planning production.
When preparing the MPS, three different sources of information are usually
used:
 The inventory
 Customer orders
 Forecast of demand.

IN OUR VACCINE MANUFACTURING PLANT OUR MPS IS AS
FOLLOWS:
 Starting inventory: 50 doses
Lot size (production per period): 300
Order: 600 doses
8-week forecast: 1.305
  Weeks

SINOVAC PARAMETERS 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8

Forecast 300 200 100 80 75 100 150 300

Order 100 50 50 100 150 50 50 50

Final inventory 50 150 50 250 100 0 150 150

This is how our master production plan would be, which would give
us the following benefits
 Calculate the necessary productive capacity, determining the
number of hours per machine and the personnel needed.
 Determine delivery dates to customers. Planning will allow there
to be no delay with respect to the agreed deadlines.
