Singular nouns
A singular noun refers to
one person, place, animal,
or object.
Plural nouns
A plural noun refers to more
than one person, place,
animal, or object.
A noun changes its
form to express plurality.
Rules in Plural Formation of Nouns
01 Most nouns form their plural
by adding s.
● region - regions
● plateau - plateaus
02 Nouns ending in s, sh, ch, x and z
form their plural by adding es.

What is an irregular
plural noun?

An irregular noun is a noun that


becomes plural by changing its
spelling in other ways than just
adding “s” or “es” to the end of the
word.
