Summarizing and Interpreting Assessment Data

Lesson 3 Correlation

Individual Test: Give what is being asked. Show your solution. (20 points total)

Compute using Spearman Rank Order Correlation (15 points)

Consider the relationship between learners’ rank in A and B subjects. Compute the following pairs of
data using Spearman Rank Order Correlation starting from the raw scores as follows.

Give the interpretation. (5 points). Don’t forget to write whether the relationship is positive or
negative. Example, PERFECT POSITIVE correlation or relationship.
Interpretation of Correlation Value:
∙ An r from 0.00 indicates zero correlation.
∙ An r from 0.01 to + 0.20 denotes negligible correlation.
∙ An r from 0.21 to + 0.40 means low or slight correlation.
∙ An r from 0.41 to + 0.70 signifies marked or moderate relationship. ∙
An r from 0.71 to + 0.90 denotes high relationship.
∙ An r from 0.91 to + 0.99 denotes very high relationship.
∙ An r of + 1.00 means perfect correlation.
