Media: Aesthetic of
the Image, Text and
Audio
-Felizardo S. Buenaflor II
Objectives:
• The basic concepts of journalism
• How basic photography works
• The basic concepts of radio broadcasting
• How creative industries involving the print
and auditory media work and operate
Framing and Reading
• Framing – means to construct, compose, or
imagine something, meaning to create a
solid plan to follow using a specific
structure in mind.
• From taking basic idea in your brain – to
how to get information out of your brain to
reach others.
Books, Comics, Magazine and the
Publishing Industry
• The usual covers of
magazines are
prominent people,
artists, and models
as they easily
capture the
attention of
subscribers.
Books, Comics, Magazine and the
Publishing Industry
• Even with the advent of the internet and
social media, the printed book is still
available way of getting information and
being entertained by information.
Books, Comics, Magazine and the
Publishing Industry
• From centuries ago to
present times where
everything is digitalized,
books still stand as one of
premier avenues for
people to be informed
and entertained.
Photography and Timeless Image
Concepts
• Photography – as originally defined, “is the
process of recording images through a
chemical interaction caused by light rays
hitting a sensitized surface”
• Referring to the celluloid film known before as
the negative.
• This process of recording images happens
when the image is captured or encoded as
electronic signals stored in memory.

TIPS in Photography
• Emotional Focus
• Color Combinations
• Lighting and Focus
• Pleasure and displeasure

Note: in taking photographs, one must be

knowledgeable of the elements of photography
in order to get the perfect shot.
Framing and Listening
• When reading a book, we tend to imagine
what’s happening in the story. We could
picture in our minds what the scenes could
appear like, and sometimes we could hear
the characters speak.
Framing and Listening
• Now imagine if you could actually “hear”
that novel and have the story’s message
unfold as you hear it.
The way the narrator could pronounce the
words, as well as how the actors could
voice out their character’s emotions, may
tickle our imaginations more than merely
reading the pages of the book.
Framing and Listening
• This is why radio was deemed as very
important at a time when moving pictures
were not yet invented to supply us with
more accurate details of a broadcast.
