PORTFOLIO
I. TITLE: Pedagogy, Education and Praxis in Critical times (Lesson 1)
II. DESCRIPTION:
The PEP network's research from 2008 to 2018 has demonstrated that educational practice
is in danger of declining in the modern era of education, as defined by neoliberal policy-makers and
administrators, if not by many of the teachers, leaders, students, and local communities we engaged
in our research studies. The bureaucratization and deprofessionalization of teachers' jobs are being
resisted and opposed, and despite some of the humiliating restrictions placed on them, teachers are
still able to carry out their duties as educators. Despite the increasingly domesticating circumstances
that education systems are placing on teachers, students, and school administrators, instructors
nonetheless continue—sometimes covertly—to practice as educators, upholding their ideals and
promises to educate students. Australia saw a summer of horrific bushfires in 2019–2020, but where
it has rained, green shoots are once again emerging, and where it has rained on charred earth, it has
already started to germinate seeds buried in the soil underneath. It is a fitting metaphor for thinking
about a future-focused education, in which educators create new circumstances for potential. As
several instances in the research recounted in this book illustrate, with the right (practice
structures) for educational practice, educational practice can and can flourish once again.
While the researchers in the network are undoubtedly motivated by the conflicts and
inconsistencies between education and schooling and the ways in which they manifest themselves
in educational practice, policy, and administration, they also hold a deep belief that education (and
other facets of contemporary life) can avoid or at least lessen the degree to which the demands of
neoliberal economic and administrative systems deface and disfigure educational practice. The
writers of this book have looked for strategies to comprehend and use educational practice in ways
that uphold educators' dedication to assisting kids, teens, and adults to live effectively in a world
worth living, throughout the many countries in the network.
III. REFLECTION:
Education has been a very controversial profession ever since due to its many different
blurry definitions and practices. This might be true, but this also is a thriving skill and practice. From
the perspective shown in the compilation of researches in lesson 1 this proves that Education can
never be outdated or lost as long as curiosity and learning is a need of all human beings alike this
will continue to flourish and improve. __________________________________________________
I have never accepted the fact that I am called to be an educator yet I will always be
mesmerized by the growth of my learners especially those whom I have helped improved.
Pedagogy, Education and Praxis might sometimes be confused in critical times but still learning
always arises whether in failure or success. I really loved the part were education since the
beginning of ancient scholars like Aristotle has became a very crucial part of the growth of people
and government or rulers. It is due to its important role as eye opener and organizer of all different
types of managements or group of people. It is safe for me to say that an educated nation is a
powerful and successful nation.
IV. SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE:
Trends and Issues in Andragogy and Pedagogy-PED 702 became an experience of colorful
bonding among peers of teachers in the country. LuzViMinda is our location yet we were able to
combine different skills and expertise in one platform thru the guidance of our endearing professor
Ma’am Fatima Nolasco who actually was our professor too during 1 st semester of my journey here in
LISQUP. I
might not be able to list details of all the learning I gathered from our discussions but I will try to
share my personal thought on what occurred during this very worthwhile endeavor.
First our unique getting to know each other never fails to amaze me. It allows all of us to
speak and share small thoughts on what kind of person we are based on a question of two choices.
It is sometimes controversial and sometimes very simple yet it is fun and educational.
Next we were tasked to do a discussion on trends and issues using a template given us as a
group; then another group was created for the sharing of ideas we were grouped based on our
division so I was grouped with my classmates from NS5 that is why it is not hard for us to adjust
anymore. We easily discussed what to do and who to share during our appointed time. Lastly, we
were grouped again, this time by region so that we could create a Language Program, which is
applicable for us.
In conclusion, personally, I really loved this class - without any false guises- because I have
learned a lot from all of my classmates from all over the Philippines. I specifically loved the part
where they tried to assure me that what I was doing in my remediation classes for non-readers are
actually correct. So I am more confident on how to deal these learners. Truly, 1 month is never
enough for this very wide topic yet we were able to be engaged by our dear professor and we
learned a lot. See you soon 
