CARDIÑO MODULE 3 DRUG

EDUCATION
BSRADTECH 1-1
ACTIVITY 1

Below is a list of questions. Answer the following questions.

1. In your capacity as an NSTP trainee, what can you do to support the implementation
of R.A. 9165?
• One of the most vital things I can do as an NSTP trainee to help the R.A.
implementation 9165 is a resolution to abstain from drug use for both myself and those
around me. As long as I am aware of right and wrong, I will make every effort to educate
both myself and others.

2. What is the importance of Dangerous Drugs Law, specifically to the NSTP students
and the community in general?
• As millennials and members of Generation Z make up the majority of NSTP students,
it is important to help and mentor young people in choosing a more constructive path in
life. Everyone is aware that drug addiction is a serious problem. We must thus educate
ourselves by knowing about the law on harmful medicines and their effects. especially
with NSTP students who pursue a diverse variety of academic interests, such as health
science, criminology, medicine, and other fields.

ACTIVITY 2
October 17, 2022

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency

PDEA Building, NIA Northside Road

National Government Center

Barangay Pinyahan, Quezon City

To whom it may concern,

The current legal framework in our society uses incarceration as a response to drug
possession. Prior to now, the scientific community has acknowledged substance abuse,
including dependence on alcohol and illicit drugs, as a serious neuro-physiological
condition requiring medical attention. Government must be able to successfully
administer a strategy that combines strong jail penalties with medical treatment for drug
usage. The ultimate objective is to increase their odds of being more capable of doing
so while also enabling them to become better equipped to prevent relapsing into their
addicted state.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this letter and for considering my request.

Sincerely,

Yasmin Cardiño

REFLECTION

As a student, write your reflection about our topic, Drug, and Substances Abuse,
Prevention, and Control.

- Although addiction has always been a part of the human experience, it now has a
greater impact on our day-to-day activities than before. A person's compulsive
behaviors can result in isolation, unemployment, homelessness, and
incarceration even if they are not physically addicted to gambling, shopping, or
pornography. Addiction "hijacks" the brain, making the drug or activity
synonymous with surviving. There is hope for individuals who have fallen into the
trap and can overcome any addiction. The idea of developing a drug addiction
absolutely terrifies me. I've watched a lot of news reports and documentaries
about drug busts and people dying from drug addiction, both famous individuals
and regular people. I find it terrifying that nobody can escape from it. Welcoming
them to a treatment facility with committed and knowledgeable personnel to aid
them is the finest method to assist those people. It is not as simple as saying
"they need to quit using drugs." It's a protracted process that allows one to
experience both despair and joy. We must everyone get an education, but
especially young people. We must avoid making the same errors again. We must
think more broadly and take into account what is right and wrong.
Moving Forward/Simulation Activity 5 (Research Connection)

Read research related about Drug Addiction (Youth Sector) and fill out the matrix given
below:

Problem

Drug addiction is the fastest growing problem among youth in developing countries and
in developed countries. Drug addiction involves compulsively seeking to use a
substance, regardless of the potentially negative social, psychological, and physical
consequences. There are 70,000 drugs addicts in Kashmir division alone including 4000
women.

Research Methodology

The study applied both quantitative and qualitative methods. Furthermore, the
researchers will utilize survey method and interview to obtain the perception and
feelings of participants which qualitative data would omit.

Findings

The analyzed data showed that 60.8% of respondents were male and 39.2% of
respondents were female. 63.15% of male respondents and 70.73% of female
respondents ageing between 16 to 19 years revealed that they know what gateway
drugs are. 46.77 of male respondents and 37.77% of female respondents ageing
between 20 to 25 years mentioned that they do not know what gateway drugs are. 72.
36% of male respondents and 57.14% of female respondents make unemployment and
conflict responsible for the increase in use of drug addiction among youth.

Conclusions

This study reveals that unemployment is one of the major reasons for drug addiction
among youth that changing cultural values, increasing economy stress and dwindling
supportive bonds are leading to initiation into substance use. This study also reveals
that conflict also plays vital role increasing drug addiction among youth that violent
conflict has serious impact on youth psychology. Many young men and women try to
overcome their disappointment, stress, depression by shifting to different drugs.
Recommendation

Counselling cells should be brought into existence for youth who suffer from depression,
stress, disappointment etc. so that they can be motivated and prevented for addiction.
