Learning Outcome CO-2: Recognise the significance of the different building components in
the construction of a building.

CO-3: Describe the construction method of a small-scaled building from its

foundation to roof.

CO-4: Recommend the usage of different building materials in

constructing buildings

Task : The task are:

1. To understand the relation of building component and element in 2
storey of building.

2. To illustrate the right architecture symbol/ graphic of building material,

component and element visually.

3. To apply on how all the component and element been incorporate/

compliment each other accordingly.

4. Recommended to apply in design subject presentation drawings.

Assignment Task 1 : 1. To illustrate, label building component & element material symbol/
graphic and in plan, sections & 3D for:

i. Type of foundation ( choose 2 type foundation)

ii. Column and beam
iii. Floors (concrete and timber floor)
iv. Walls (brick and timber wall)
v. Staircase (dog leg and straight flight)
vi. Openings (door and window) - 3 type of each with
vii. Roofing (pitch roof and flat roof)

2. Illustration must be in manual drawing or architectural sketch /

drafting ONLY. (preferred to scale that can fit in report instruction)

3. To compose all illustration in a A4 size report (landscape orientation

ONLY (refer to format given)

Assignment Task 2 1. To illustrate partial sections (2D) of TWO (2) storey building from sub-
structure up to superstructure with correct architecture material
symbol/ graphic and label.

2. To incorporate/ apply all knowledge and understanding based in on

Task 1.

3. Illustration must be in manual drawing or architectural sketch /

drafting ONLY.

2. To submit hardcopy (if MCO lifted, if not submission can be done thru
softcopy; scan)
