Slide3 – Lesson Objective

Slide4 – Jose Rizal early education in calamba and binan

And today we’ll be discussing the education years of jose rizal as our week number 3 and we’re going to
start with his early education in calamba and binyan.

Slide 4 – Subject Abstract

During the early years of Spanish colonization, education was mostly religionoriented and controlled by
the Roman Catholic Church. Spanish friars and missionaries educated the natives through religion with
the aim of converting indigenous populations to the Catholic faith.

Slide5 - Refreshing our memories

So our memories, what did you recall during your preschool or kinder days? Umiyak ka ba? Nag
tantrums kaba? Hinatid kaba ng nanay mo tapos iyak ka ng iyak kasi ayaw mong iwanan ka? So this is
very common site and sometimes it is being shown in television especially during the first day kids are
crying because they are not really it’s ah, it’s a new environment for them and they are used to have
their moms around them what do you think or why do you think that we should be educated at a very
young age so bakit nga ba kailangan na mag aral kahit bata pa.
Tantrums - A tantrum is the expression of a young child's frustration with his or her limitations or anger about not
being able to get his or her way.

Slide 6 – Friday Routine

Slide 7 – Review the past lesson

Last meeting Ms. Khen discussed about the introduction of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal we talk about
the parents, siblings and also the lovers of Rizal now I’ll be giving you a few questions regarding to our
previous lesson.

Can you name the brother of Jose Rizal?

Can you name atleast 2 Sister of Jose Rizal?

Who is the mother of our national hero dr. Jose Rizal?

Slide 8 – RIZAL FIRST TEACHER

Rizal’s first education in his home the first teacher of rizal is actually his mom because is a very good and
very studious woman and he is the inspiration of rizal in his love towards education and even as a kid
rizal is considered as bibo. Pabibo – gusto niya lagi mag pasikat

The life of Doña Teodora illustrates how Filipinos, men and women alike, struggled to keep their families
together during the tumultuous period of Spanish colonization.

Slide 9 – Rizal as an artist

Read slide and compare yourself at the age of 5 and rizal

At the age of 5 he could read their Spanish bible haltingly and he manifested artistic talents even at the
very young age he do or he did sketches he molded clay and he is an avid nature lover he is an observant
of nature also rizal “the bible kid” he’s a man of letter according to zaide (a Filipino historian) he wrote
his first poem “Sa aking mga kababata” although according to xiaochua (a Filipino historian) there had
been ummm clarification that it appears that rizal did not wrote this poem. But for me rizal wrote that
poem because when you read the poem - Rizal wants us to love our own language and it is a gift from
above that was given onto us to be grateful of. It is a blessing that like any other nationalities we were
gifted of. We are aware that Rizal was motivated to write this poem during the time of Spanish
supremacy because we were under their colony. He addresses us to love our language for it is our step
towards liberty. As Rizal correlated it to a bird that can freely fly up in the sky. It has a will to fly
wherever it wants to go and whatever it wants to do.

But if this bird is in a howl like us, Filipinos, who cannot stand for what we believe is right, we will never
experience independence.

And he also wrought his first drama in tagalog at the age of 8, so ano ba ginagawa natin nung 8 year old
pa tayo? Si rizal gumagawa na ng drama. He’s also a magician (mahilig sya nag pasikat). Some of his
uhh tricks would be the magic lantern exhibition and marionettes making coin or handkerchief appear
and disappear. (bibo)

Slide 10 – As jose grew older

Then because he is bright kid his parents decided to employ a private tutor to give him lesson in home
or at home the first is maestro celestimo and the second is maestro lucas padua. Who experience here
having a private tutor?

Later on old man named Leon Monroy a former classmate of rizal’s father became his tutor so his
parents are actually very eager to develop rizal at a very young age because they really tried to in to hire
tutor in order to awaken okay? The talent of their child. And then unfortunately his teacher died five
months later it’s a very sad thing after monroy’s death. Rizal parents decided to send their gifted son to
a private school in binan so dati palang kapag mayaman ka or may kaya ka private ka.
Slide 11 - Rizal goes to binan

June 1869

He experienced being homesick on his first night saw rizal being or having a very good family and
surrounded by love and affection he experiences first home sickness he said in the moonlight “I
remember my hometown my idolized mother and my solicitor sisters, ah how sweet to me was kalamba
my home town in spite of the fact that was not as wealthy as binan, so binan seems to be the center of
laguna during that time.

Slide 12 – First day in binan school

And then what are the experiences of Rizal in biñan school, so Rizal was enrolled to the school of
maestro Justiniano Aquino. When you say maestro even until now in visayas they call teachers maestro,
maestro, Okay it means teacher. And he experienced bullying the name of the bully Pedro so Rizal was
angry at his bully for making fun of him during his conversation with the teacher, he challenged Pedro to
a fight so bhagmo sarta a newcomer Rizal is making wave already challenging a bully named Pedro and
then Rizal having learned the art of wrestling from his athletic to human well deviated the bigger boy. So
remember riselle is a sickly boy and he's a frail kid that's why. may mga tito sya na nag train sa kanya
para lumakas ang kanyang katawan pangalan ay tiyo Manuel, he is. well he is a brother of his mom.

Slide 13 – arm wrestling

After class another classmate Andress and Dan and challenge him to an armed wrestling match. having
the weaker arm lost and nearly crack his head on the sidewalk however of course rizal being the pabibo
kid as he was he became the best student in school in academic studies, Rizal excelled and beat all the
bingham boys, of course because you are smart and because you are Jose remember Joseph in the bible
his even his brothers became very envious and jealous of him so just like this all because of his
intellectual superiority lagi nilang pinag- iinitan si Rizal and napapaaway tuloy si Rizal and then he
experience being punish to teacher, teaches are allowed to inflict physical punishment on children as a
form of discipline right now hindi na pwede yan. Received many whippings and strokes the firoli so
pinapalo sila imagine where was the day when he was not stretched on the beach for a weeping or
punished with five or six blows in the open pan.
