(b) What was Gavaskar’s attitude during the matches when he was a child?

Ans - During childhood Sunil Gavaskar used to play with some of the friends
near his house he always want to be a batsman and wants to get more runs. This
became his obsession whenever he was out, he argues with his friends, took his
bat and went home if they disagree.

2. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40-60 words

Ans:- The poet’s father tried every curse and blessing powder, mixture, herb
and hybrid. The poet’s father also powered a little paraffin upon the bitten toe
and put a put match to it to lesson the pain of poet’s mother.

Ans – (ii) How did the villagers help when poet’s mother was bitten by a
scorpion?

Ans - The villagers made a circle rounds the narrator’s mother and sympathised
with her.

3. Answer any one of the following questions in about 40-60 words.

(b) How can you say that Temba was a responsible child?

Ans - Temba was twelve-year-old son of Baldeo. He had to help his mother and
sister in the home. Sometimes he used to sleep with his father in the hut. He sat
all night beside the dead body of his father, guarding it from animals. There
nights later, he took over the duties of the cutting lighting, the signal lamp. He
was similar to his father because he was brave, dutiful, fearless and responsible
as Baldeo.

4. Answer any one of the following questions in about 100 to 150 words.

(a) Discuss the character sketch of Gerrard and the intruder . Who is more
smart between the

two and how?

Ans- Character sketch of Gerrard and the intruder

 Gerrard: - Gerrard was a young actor and play wright. He lived alone in
a cattage. He did not socialise himself. He phoned his orders and avoided
the trades people, His movements into and from his cattage were. He was
a low abiding fellow. He was witty, humorous and intelligent. He was an
opportunist and resourceful he was good at cooking up stories, he was
very smart and clever.
 Intruder: - Vincent Charles the intuder was a jewel robber. Once he
had shot a cop dead. He had to run about to elude the police. He
planned his moves cleverly and intended to kill Gerrard. He also
wanted to live in Gerrard’s clothes and cottage. After killing
Gerrard, he would gain freedom, and could go to the places and do
the thing as Gerrard.

Who is more smart between the two and how: -

Gerrard is more intelligent than the intruder. He does not lose his patience at the
sight of a revolver in Intruder’s hard. He keeps himself cool and greets the
stranger. He discloses the Intruder that he is also an accused of murder and
police are after him. He also told that he had poster a man on the main road to
give the information of police through a phone call. He took the Intruder
towards garage and asked the Intruder if police were there. Gerrard pushed him
into cupboard and locked it and the same time he called the police to get him
arrested. This way Gerrard proved himself more intelligent than the Intuder.

(b) How did Bholi’s mother react when her father asked her about sending
Bholi to school ? Why did mother react like this?

Ans – Bholi is the nickname of a girl named Sulekha. She was the fourth
daughter of a village Numberdar, Ramlal. Ramlal’s other daughters were
healthy and when she was only ten months old. She fell down cot. This had
damaged. Some part of her brain. Since her childhood everyone called her
Bholi. The simpleton. At the age of the two she had an attack of small – pox it
disfigured her entire body.

Later a primary school was opened in the village, for the girls. The tehsildar
sahib cane to perform its opening ceremony. He said to ramlal, As as revenue
official you are the representative of the government in the village and so you
must set an example to the villagers. You must send your daughters to school.
That night when Ramlal consulted his wife, (Bholi’s mother) she cried, “are you
crazy? If girls go to school. Who will marry them?”

But Ramlal had the courage to disobey the tehsildar. At last his wife said,” I
will tell you what to do. Send Bholi to school. As it is, there is little chance of

her getting married. With her ugly face and lack of sense. Let the teachers at
school worry about her.

At last we can say that Bholi’s mother reacted like this because she was scared
that nobody would marry with her daughter if she send them to school.

Introduction: - Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was a popular political; figure in


India. The people of the country called him Iron man of India. He was one of
the most dynamic and mighty warriors of the country. He was one of the most

prominent and intellectual leaders of the country. Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel
contributed to bringing indepen – dance to the country. He was such a great and
inspirational personality.

Step I – Collect information about Sardar Patel

i) His Place of birth: - Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was born in Nadiad, a
small village in Gujrat. He was born on 31st October 1875
ii) His childhood days: - Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel was a very
hardworking individual from his childhood. He used to help his father
in farming and also took time for his studied.
iii) His education & hobbies: - The primary education of Sardar Vallabh
Bhai Patel was completed in Karama sad and the higher education in
pelted. He passed 10th class board exam at the age of 22 which was a
bit unusual. He went to London in 1910 for further studied. His inner
– self always wants to do something for the country.
iv) His lifestyle: - He was a successful lawyer. He organised peasants
from Kheda, Borsad, and Bardoli in Gujrat in non – violent civil
disobedience against the British Raj
v) His principles in life: - He believed in the principal of unity in
diversity and stand united for the common cause of India’s
Independence he had the quality of leadership and ability to connect
masses.
vi) His achievements in life:- He organized Kheda Satyagraha of 1918,
Played an Important role on the Non - cooperation movement of 1920
-22 , led the Bardoli satyagraha of 1928 and became the president of
Indian National Congress in 1931.
vii) His role in freedom struggle:- He was a popular figure in freedom
struggle. He later became the first deputy prime minister and first
home minister of India. He contributed in integration 565 princely
states into a newly independent India.
viii) Why was he called the Iron -man of India? :- Sardar Vallabh Bhai
Patel is known as the Iron man of India. He was a very strong and

dynamic freedom fighter who actively contributed to the India


freedom movement. So he truly call the Iron man of India.

famous figure in India. He was born in Nadiad a small village in Gujrat on 31st
