Piala BSBA-OM3 Reflection Task_GE PC

1. Can you see yourself in the character of Ben? If yes, how? If not, why?
Formal, friendly, and calm — that is Ben and I’m the other way around. Though I cannot
see myself in him doesn’t mean I don’t like his character because I tell you, he is very ideal and
I’m not I mean maybe I have my own ways. First of all I’m not friendly, unless someone will
approach me and befriend me first :). I’m not formal, not in terms of dress code because I am,
but because of time management, I’m actually late at times. And not that calm with my own
problems nor to give advice to others like choosing the right word, perhaps.
I kind of see myself in the shoes of Jules in the corporate world, that “busy-as-a-bee”
type but dreaming of a work-life balance, you know what I mean? HAHA. Anyways, I like the
movie very much because it made me cry in the last part. That emotion means I connected
myself with the message of the movie being conveyed.

2. What are his ways for him to fit into the job?
Well, for me as I finished watching the movie (though not straight in time) the way for him to fit
into the corporate world is by standing out of who he is in the traditional way and not pretending
to be literate in the advance world but trying to embrace it as well as what he can offer or the
initiative he has at work. One of the reasons why Ben is loved in the company is because he is
always there for them, may it be in work or personal matters. You know, experiences never get
old and his advice never gets boring. And as we know Ben has expertise in the business world
and in life itself.

3. Why does Ben keep on wearing his suit?

Aside from the fact that he worked for 40+ years in the industry, he also feels comfortable with
his suit at work. And I also believe what Ben believed, "dress to impress" this might be an old
style yet very effective that adds up the ambience in the workplace. Millennial to generation
alpha tend to be more casual in dress code but the feeling of a formal dress or suit wore gives
another kind of impact especially in the state of professionalism.
4. Among Ben and Jules who shows professionalism at work? How?
Well, aside from the fact that Jules vividly stated that casual attire is enough for her employees in
the company which need not to dress formally, still that’s a part of professionalism and only Ben
does that. Apart from the dresscode, I found Cameron as one of those who showed
professionalism. He sort of acts like the secretary, and was one of those who proposed the idea of
“Outreach Program; Senior Intern” if I’m not mistaken, which Jules did not intend to agree. Yet
it was one of the best programs that happened in her company because Ben applied and was
hired as an intern which became his intern/bestfriend.

5. What life lesson did you learn from the movie that you could apply when you will be in
your future job?
As a future Operations Manager someday, one of the valuable lessons that captured my attention
is “first impressions aren’t always the last”. Jules expects a senior citizen to be like her parents
she doesn't like, so that’s her thought on Ben when she saw him. Until Ben initiated and offered
his knowledge to the company as well as observing the do’s and don’ts of her boss – Jules, like
the blinking of an eye gesture etc., made him change her perspective. But it took a while for her
to perceive that.
So in my future job that’s full of social interaction, I don’t want to give my final word to a person
unless I have known them well enough. And for me to give a first impression to others, I guess
I’ll apply that “dress to impress” style :).
