Introduction
Wind speed, also known as wind flow speed, is a fundamental atmospheric phenomenon created
by air flowing from high to low pressure due to temperature variations. An anemometer is now
routinely used to measure wind speed (wikipedia, n.d.).
Wind speed has an impact on weather forecasts, aviation and marine operations, construction
projects, plant development and metabolism rates, and many other things. Due to Earth's
rotation, wind direction is frequently virtually parallel to isobars (rather than perpendicular, as
one might anticipate) (Hogan, 2013).

Mean:
In statistics, the mean is one of the measures of central tendency, apart from the mode and
median. Mean is nothing but the average of the given set of values. It denotes the equal
distribution of values for a given data set (byjus, n.d.).
µ = ∑N
x
µ = Mean
∑ = Sum of / Total
x = Individual data value
N = Number of items
∑x= 13139.75
N= 1200
13139.75
µ= 1200 = 10.9497
Median
The median is the middle number in a sorted, ascending or descending, list of numbers and can be more
descriptive of that data set than the average. The median is sometimes used as opposed to the mean
when there are outliers in the sequence that might skew the average of the values (investopedia, n.d.).
To find the median:
Median =10.075
Mode
The mode is the value that appears most frequently in a data set. A set of data may have one
mode, more than one mode, or no mode at all. Other popular measures of central tendency
include the mean, or the average of a set, and the median, the middle value in a set (investopedia,
n.d.).
Mode=10.67
Range
The difference between the lowest and highest values. Range can also mean all the output values
of a function (mathsisfun, n.d.)
Range(x)= Max(x)-Min(x)
Min(x) = 2.29
Max(x) = 24.43
Range= 22.14
Variance:
The variance is a measure of variability. It is calculated by taking the average of squared
deviations from the mean. Variance tells you the degree of spread in your data set. The more
spread the data, the larger the variance is in relation to the mean (Bhandari, n.d.).

Standard Deviation
The standard deviation is the average amount of variability in your dataset. It tells you, on
average, how far each value lies from the mean. A high standard deviation means that values are
generally far from the mean, while a low standard deviation indicates that values are clustered
close to the mean (Bhandari., 2020).

Conclusion:
Here in this provided assignment learnt about mean, mode, median, standard deviation, variance, range
and forecasting of data. Learnt in depth details of windspeed and also how to plot over excel,
forecasting on excel also application of formula on excel to get desire results. This all increased learning
of mentioned concepts and better understanding of topics.
