POINTERS TO REVIEW (EAPP)

Summarizing is synthesizing important ideas in a piece of writing. This means that a writer shortens a
particular text but covers all the significant points in it.

Thesis Statement is the sentence that states the main idea of a writing assignment and helps control
the ideas within the paper. It is not merely a topic. It often reflects an opinion or judgment that a writer
has made about a reading or personal experience.

Inductive a writing method which starts from particular to general; this means that specific details are
presented at the first part of part of the text and conclusions or generalization are placed at the end of
the text.

Deductive the opposite of induction; this writing method starts from general to specific, which means
that conclusions are presented first before presenting the support ideas or the specific details.

Critical Approaches different perspective we consider when looking at a piece of literature they seek
to give answer to these questions in addition to aiding us in interpreting literature.

A critique is an exercise in judging the value of a piece of writing or research. It is also a way of
improving your own skills by looking at the way other writers and research work.
