Write down the differences of the following:

2.1 Lateral and Medial

The term "medial" refers to be near the body's midline, or the median plane, which
divides the body into two halves, left and right, from head to toe. The lateral refers to
the side of the body or a region of the body that is away from the center. As a result, the
torso is on the medial side of the arms, while the arms are on the lateral side of the
body. The inside half or side closest to the other knee is the medial side, whereas the
lateral side faces away from the center of the body and is the farthest away from the
other knee.

2.2 Anterior and Posterior

The phrase "anterior" relates to the body's front, or the direction it is facing. On the
exterior of the foot, the toes are situated. The posterior refers to the back or the
direction toward the back of the body. The posterior popliteus is the popliteus that is
found behind the patella.

2.3 Superior and Inferior

These terms refer to the body's vertical axis, and a body part that is higher or higher
than another is said to be superior to it; on the other hand, the second body part is
inferior to the first. As a result, the head is higher than the neck, the neck is higher than
the torso, and the torso is higher than the legs.

2.4 Proximal and Distal

These two terms are almost universally used to describe the relative placements of
components or sites on the limbs. Items that are closer to the torso are referred to as
proximal, while things that are farther out are referred to as distal. As a result, a finger
is distal to the wrist, the elbow, and the shoulder. The femur is proximal to the knee,
which is proximal to the ankle, which is proximal to the toes.
List down the names of the body cavities and give each function

 Dorsal body cavity– the cranial cavity and the spinal cavity in
combination.
 Cranial cavity– the space occupied by the brain, enclosed by the skull
bones.
 Spinal cavity– the space occupied by the spinal cord enclosed by the
vertebrae column making up the backbone. The spinal cavity is continuous
with the cranial cavity.
 Ventral body cavity– the thoracic cavity, the abdominal cavity, and the
pelvic cavity in combination.
 Thoracic cavity– the space occupied by the ventral internal organs
superior to the diaphragm.
 Abdominopelvic cavity– the abdominal cavity and the pelvic cavity in
combination.
 Abdominal cavity– the space occupied by the ventral internal organs
inferior to the diaphragm and superior to the pelvic cavity.
 Pelvic cavity– the space occupied by the ventral internal organs that are
bordered by the bones of the pelvic girdle.

Write a summary of what you have learned from this topic

Two of the most fundamental words and fields of study in the biological sciences are
anatomy and physiology. The internal and external structures of the body, as well as
their physical interactions, are studied in anatomy, while the functions of those
structures are studied in physiology. I learned that anatomy and physiology provide
fundamental understanding about the human body. It aids in the explanation of key
concepts relating to how our bodies function. Anatomy and physiology studies teach us
not only theoretical concepts but also actual functionalities of the human body.
