I. Objective/s:
After performing this activity, I can:

II. Material/s:

12 tablespoon or more of salt glass of water

III. Procedure/s:
Exploration 1 – Air Shield
1. Crumple the newspaper and then stuff it into the glass jar. Make sure to stuff it
tightly that it does not fall even when the glass is turned upside down.
2. Hold the glass bottom up and sink it into a pot filled with water for about a minute.
3. Pull the glass out of the water and remove the paper.
4. Record your observations and make inferences.

Exploration 2 – Egg Float


1. Put the egg in the glass with water.
2. Add several teaspoons of salt and stir gently.
3. Record your observations and make inferences.

Exploration 3 – Ice Rescue


1. Float the ice cube on the glass of water.
2. Hang one end of the string over the edge of the glass and place the other end on
the cube.
3. Sprinkle a small amount of salt on the ice cube.
4. Let the setup stand for five to ten minutes.
5. Record your observations and make inferences.

Exploration 4 – Pin Down


1. Float the pin gently on the glass of water using the tweezers.
2. Add liquid soap drop by drop.
3. Record your observations and make inferences.
