7e’s Lesson Plan in Science

Quarter: 2nd
Lesson: Chapter 1; Lesson 16
Date: December 07, 2020
Day: Monday

I. Objective
A. Classify the function of kidney to the human body.
B. Trace the process through which urine is produced.
II. Subject Matter
Topic: What are the function of Kidneys?

1. Elicit Materials
Have the student know something about
kidney?

Ask them what they know about it, what

they want to know and what they learnt.

2. Engage
Show a picture of Kidney to the class and Laptop
let the students identify it; Match the word Picture of a Kidney
that corresponds to the part of kidney.

Then ask the following question:

1. What is in the picture?
2. What are the part of the kidney?
3. How many parts did kidney has?

3. Explore
Divide the student into three groups. Funnel or improvised funnel
Each group has its own Leader, Half of the plastic bottle
Secretary, Time keeper and presenter. Filter paper
And also the student should be following Old clean cloth (katcha)
the rules in activity. Describe the Scissors
procedure and objectives of the activity. Flour
Sand
Let the student perform the activity and Salt
Record the observation. Patis or soy sauce
Water
Activity: Beaker or clean cup
1. Form a cone with the filter paper,
then line the inside of the funnel or
improvised funnel (inverted upper
part of the bottle to the form of a
filter)
2. Mix the water, soy sauce or patis ,
ketchup, flour, salt, and a little
amount of sand, in a beaker or
cup. Stir slightly.
3. Pour the mixture into the funnel or
improvise filtering device.
4. Observe what happen
5. Record your observation.

4. Explain
After the activity, the student present their Worksheet
observation. A representative in each
group will present and discuss their
observation based in the experiment.

5. Elaborate
Strengthen the concepts gained by the
student in the activity through Lecture
discussion about what are the function of
the kidney. And Identify the part of those.

Further, discuss the way how did kidney

function in our body.

6. Evaluate
Guided Question about the activity that Paper
student do and observed. Ballpen

Answer the following question:

1. What happened when you poured
the mixture into the funnel?
2. Which body part can be
represented by the mixture?
3. What was left on the filter paper?
4. What went through the filter
paper?
5. What can be represented by those
that did not pass through?

7. Extend
Student will be given a freedom to raise
their hand to identify the following below;

If the statement is right say True and if

the statement is wrong say False.
1. Is the kidney are the bean-shaped
paired organs?
2. Kidney are about to three to four
inches long and two to three
inches wide.
3. The right kidney is slightly lower
due to the presence of liver on the
right region of our Body.
4. Kidney has an eight part.
5. Kidney remove urea from blood
through tiny filtering units called
nephrons.
